Job Description

Responsibilities & Qualifications Novelis Bay Minette is seeking a Process Engineer Intern to support manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives within our aluminum operations. This internship provides hands-on experience in process optimization, production support, data analysis, quality improvement, and operational excellence within a manufacturing environment. The Process Engineer Intern will work closely with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, Reliability, and Engineering teams to identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance.
Responsibilities:
- Support process improvement projects across manufacturing operations.
- Analyze production, quality, and process data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Assist with troubleshooting process-related issues and implementing corrective actions.
- Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities.
- Develop and update process documentation, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support operational excellence initiatives.
- Track project progress and communicate findings, recommendations, and results to leadership.
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture while adhering to site safety and environmental standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related engineering discipline.
- Junior, Senior, or recent graduate standing.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior internship, co-op, laboratory, or manufacturing experience.
- Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience analyzing and interpreting large data sets.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, or other data analysis tools.
- Interest in manufacturing operations and process optimization.
- Demonstrated leadership through work, academic projects, student organizations, or extracurricular activities.
