(Anaheim, CA & Orange, CA) Engineering Technician Position Summary The Engineering Technician will provide hands-on technical support to the Process Engineering and Operations teams. This position will assist with developing, improving, documenting, and maintaining manufacturing processes, equipment, tooling, and production systems. The Engineering Technician will work closely with the Process Engineer, Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, and Operations teams to troubleshoot manufacturing issues, perform process trials, collect and analyze production data, support equipment installations and qualifications, and implement process improvements. This is a hands-on position requiring strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work directly on manufacturing equipment and processes. Key Responsibilities Process Engineering Support Assist the Process Engineer with developing, testing, and optimizing manufacturing processes. Support process trials, experiments, and engineering evaluations. Collect process data and document trial results. Assist with process capability studies and process validation activities. Troubleshoot process problems and identify potential root causes. Assist with implementing corrective and preventive actions. Monitor production processes and identify opportunities for improvement. Support continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing initiatives. Equipment & Machinery Support Assist with installation, setup, adjustment, and troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment. Support equipment commissioning, qualification, and validation activities. Work with equipment suppliers and contractors during installations and service activities. Assist with equipment modifications and improvements. Verify equipment operating parameters and document changes. Help develop equipment operating procedures and preventive maintenance requirements. Support troubleshooting of mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and process-related issues. Tooling & Fixture Support Assist with the design, modification, inspection, and maintenance of manufacturing tooling and fixtures. Measure tooling and components using precision measuring equipment. Assist with identifying tooling wear, damage, dimensional issues, and potential improvements. Coordinate tooling repairs and modifications with internal and external suppliers. Documentation Create and update work instructions, standard operating procedures, setup instructions, and process documentation. Maintain engineering records, equipment documentation, and process trial reports. Assist with creating process flow diagrams, equipment layouts, and basic engineering drawings. Maintain accurate records of engineering changes and process improvements. Support the Process Engineer with preparing technical reports and presentations. Testing & Quality Support Assist with product and process testing. Perform measurements and inspections using calipers, micrometers, gauges, scales, and other measurement equipment. Support cleanliness testing, process verification, and validation activities. Assist Quality Engineering with investigations and data collection. Ensure testing and process activities are performed according to established procedures and specifications. Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity, throughput, and cost. Participate in Kaizen events and continuous improvement projects. Assist with 5S, visual management, waste reduction, and workplace organization. Support time studies and process evaluations. Help implement and sustain process improvements on the production floor. Production Support Provide hands-on technical support to production when process issues occur. Assist operators with troubleshooting and process-related questions. Help identify recurring production problems and communicate findings to the Process Engineer. Support production startups, new product introductions, and process changes. Assist with training operators on new or modified processes and equipment. Qualifications Required Associate degree or equivalent. 2+ years of experience in manufacturing, engineering, maintenance, or technical environment. Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting skills. Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and technical documentation. Experience using basic precision measurement tools. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word. Strong problem-solving and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team. Work Environment This position is performed primarily in a manufacturing environment and regularly involves exposure to CNC machining equipment, moving mechanical parts, industrial noise, metal shavings, lubricants, coolants, compressed air systems, and other manufacturing materials.
