We are seeking a Sr. Staff Chemical Engineer to join our Data Science team, where you will apply deep chemical engineering expertise alongside coding, analytics, and automation to improve, scale, and optimize complex manufacturing processes. This role sits at the intersection of process engineering, data science, and software, focusing on building scalable, data-driven solutions rather than day‑to‑day operations. This role will report to Sr. Principal Engineer, Data Sceince and is based in San Jose, CA. This is a fully on-site, in office role 5 days a week. Key Responsibilities Apply first‑principles chemical engineering to data-driven process modeling and optimization Develop Python-based tools, pipelines, and workflows to automate engineering analysis Build and maintain digital twins, soft sensors, and advanced analytics models Analyze large-scale manufacturing data to identify performance, yield, and reliability opportunities Partner with data scientists, software engineers, and process experts to deploy solutions into production Owns complex, ambiguous problems from model concept to deployment Required Qualifications PhD or MS in Chemical Engineering (or related field) 6+ years of industry experience, including senior/staff-level technical impact Proven ability to translate chemical engineering problems into data and code Skills Process modeling, scale-up, and root-cause analysis (Aspen) Python (NumPy, Pandas, SciPy; visualization libraries) Automation of engineering calculations and analysis workflows Working with large datasets, time-series data, and process historians(OSIsoft PI, Aspen IP21)) ML or statistical modeling applied to physical systems Bloom Energy is an equal opportunity employer and makes employment decisions on the basis of merit.
