Postdoctoral Scholar (OPS) - Experimental, Modeling and Simulations of Magnetic Separations of Critical Materials (NHMFL) Florida State University - 4.3 Tallahassee, FL Job Details Temporary 6 hours ago Qualifications Fluid dynamics Computational research Scientific publications Team leadership Computational modeling Scientific research papers Doctor of Philosophy Full Job Description Department National High Magnetic Field Laboratory Responsibilities A postdoctoral position is available for highly motivated candidates to join a multi-disciplinary group of chemical engineers, physicists, chemists, and geochemists at the Florida State University (FSU) and the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory (NHMFL). The project will involve experiments, modeling and simulations of critical metals fluids under influence of magnetic fields. The candidate selected is expected to conduct research on the experiments and modeling of a range of separation strategies for recovery of critical materials from industrial waste. The initial appointment will be for one year, with renewal for up to two additional years conditional upon performance and availability of funding. Qualifications PhD in Engineering and/or Physics or relevant discipline. Experience in computational fluid dynamics, magnet design and actuation, experimental micro/macro fluidics, colloidal science, and separation processes. Experience with instrument design and/or automation experience. Team player with leadership, communication, and presentation skills. A track record of quality publications with excellent writing skills is essential. Applicants should hold a PhD in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, or related fields, and have a strong background in chemical physics, experiments, flow visualizations, X-ray florescence, fluid dynamics, modeling, and simulations with COMSOL or other CFD platforms.
