Position Overview:
The Process Engineer is responsible for supporting the continuous process of manufacturing monofilament and bicomponent fibers, ensuring quality and product specifications are satisfied. Additional responsibilities include working with Research and Development to develop new products, providing guidance to production teams, collaborating on technical exchanges across operating sites.
What You'll Do:
Responsibilities Lead technical improvement efforts in Covington or Athens and collaborate with process engineers across operating sites Act as a positive change agent in critical performance aspects of Manufacturing, Safety, and Quality Ensure process improvement plans are aligned with business needs Collaborate with operators working in Maintenance, Process Technology, and Quality Systems Promote and support Lean Six Sigma projects Qualifications The Plant Process Engineer must be a self-starter, highly motivated, and proactively seek opportunities to add value to the organization. Proposals for new projects must be backed by strong sets of data that clearly summarize the intent and timeline. Required Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, or Polymer & Fiber Engineering, or similar 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment (engineering, process technology, and/or operations preferred) with track record of starting, leading and supporting projects such as waste reduction, contamination reduction, increasing process efficiency, savings and/or environmental projects Advanced skill level in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Utilizing Lean 6 Sigma methodologies and tools to lead continuous improvement
Preferred Qualifications Technical Knowledge and Skills :
Lean Six Sigma green belt or higher or be willing to earn within 2 years of hire Process technology and manufacturing of synthetic fibers Managing manufacturing and business processes toward optimization Employing systematic approach to solving problems and improving processes Complies with all safety rules : Financial statements, costing methodologies and various methods of cost/benefit analysis : Key functions and drivers of business performance : Intermediate experience in current software tools, Minitab, and database management systems Leadership Skills Strategic and analytical approach to all projects with attention to savings and payback Lead teams through complex problem-solving Define objectives and integrate them into action plans Perform both long and short-term planning Challenge status quo and approach new ideas with an open mind Motivate others; generate enthusiasm in the workplace Teach and develop others into key contributors Create and sustain open team dynamic Make and enact difficult decisions Ability to maturely resolve conflicts Personal Characteristics Ability to work with and gain respect of superiors, peers, and subordinates Self-motivated and self-confident Willing to step up and lead when asked or when necessary Positive, "can-do" attitude, with a proven track record Mature judgment Open, respectful and engaging
