Process Engineer 3.2 3.2 out of 5 stars Des Moines, IA 50321 Siegwerk Druckfarben AG & Co. KGaA 105 reviews The Manufacturing Process Engineer is an integral role at Siegwerk USA. You will manage concept, scope, cost, resources, funding and all other facets of small to major capital projects. You will maintain visibility to the design process and ensure adherence to all established key components and project deliverables. Coordinating with the factory and other stakeholders, you will directly manage overall project execution including construction and commissioning. The position will support review of design work for repair, construction, renovation, and improvement projects. Will support production in all technical areas to produce the highest quality product for our customers. You will serve as the technical expert and lead responses and actions to address any customer product level concerns. You will develop and maintain internal materials and process specifications that compliment industry standards and customer requirements. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify areas for improvement and develop and implement solutions to increase productivity, reduce costs, and improve product quality. You will design, develop, test, and/or supervise the manufacturing and installation of mechanical equipment, components, or systems to support business initiatives working on multiple projects requiring innovative and original solutions. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role. Responsibilities included, but not limited to: Assist in the development and execution of the plant's capital projects program for new equipment and major repairs. Assist in the development of pre-project approval documents including project charter, project management plan, project kick start, estimate and milestone schedule creation. Manage adherence to project milestones and project scope and secure approvals for all changes in projects based on engineering ways of working methodology Project Development / Planning
- Leads development of detailed and accurate project charters and project plans with the project team.
- Manages projects to budget and schedule using MS Project.
- Develops detailed start-up plans. Start-up curves and targets are developed with the project team and agreed upon with the project owner. Ensures internal customers are engaged in the start-up phase and that other personnel impacted by the engineers projects are properly trained and have proper documentation in place prior to start-up. - Clearly assigns roles and responsibilities to project team members. Works to drive accountability to assure follow through on project commitments. Has the responsibility to develop a qualified and committed project team. Technical Liaison
- Engages with internal customers. Identifies issues and works to develop a solution. Helps the customer work through the process of justification and approval and drives the project to completion. Troubleshooting/Problem Solving
- Uses disciplined problem solving techniques to correct internal issues. Troubleshoots & provides solutions on technical/performance issues. Collaborates with other areas of the company and/or equipment vendors, sub-contractors, or consultants to solve complex performance issues. Standards and Specifications
- Consistently uses and works to ensure company engineering standards and specifications are followed. For project specific documentation, develops detailed and accurate engineering documentation consistent with all internal guidelines. Works to improve and standardize internal processes and procedures. Innovation & Improvement
- Using a strong knowledge base of facility technology, develops and drives concepts for continuous improvement of system safety, maintainability, reliability, and efficiency.
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in an engineering field with a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, electrical engineering with chemical background or equal. Experienced with CAD software (2D or 3D). Will accommodate specific CAD software background. Proficient in learning new software and operation of Microsoft Software (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Project, Teams, Etc.) Self-starter and independent worker with the ability to adapt to changing job requirements depending on the objective of a project. Experienced with reading and interpreting construction and engineering prints. Registered Professional Engineering license is preferred, but not required Experience with key facility structural systems (roofs, foundations, load and non-load bearing components, etc.) is desired. Must demonstrate strong decision-making and leadership skills. Experience with MRP a plus. Experience with process design, optimization, and troubleshooting Strong understanding of process control principles. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and implement effective solutions to production challenges. Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, enabling you to effectively collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders. Must exhibit a leader-coach mentality and act as a change agent with a team-oriented focus. Gives and takes constructive feedback with a mindset of challenging and embracing change Capability to clearly present information and influence or persuade others. Experience working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities. Demonstrated ability as an outstanding team player and a successful independent worker. Preferred Education, Experience and Skills Chemical manufacturing process knowledge preferred. PLC logic/programming knowledge is desired. A working knowledge of equipment automation such as controllers, automation components, etc. A general understanding of facility operations (utilities, cranes, hazardous chemical control, etc.). A working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles. A good understanding of Safety Programs and objectives. Physical Requirements Must be willing and physically able to walk/work in, observe and spend time in a chemical manufacturing environment. Prolonged periods of walking, standing, bending, climbing, balancing, crouching and kneeling. May have prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer, in meetings or presenting and training Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times. Ability to travel throughout facility as required to conduct audits and/or walk-throughs Must wear all required PPE when in protected areas. Required to reach and grasp with hands and reach with arms Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus Must be able to respond to any safety incident quickly and effectively and/or accident including First Responder duties. Willing and physically able to travel domestically and/or internationally, if requested Ability to work in different shifts and/or holiday as required by project deadlines.
