2027 Process Safety (Chemical Engineering) Co-op - Chicago Office Baker Engineering and Risk Consultants, Inc. (BakerRisk

• ) is one of the world's leading explosion analysis, structural design, and risk management companies. BakerRisk provides comprehensive consulting, engineering, laboratory, and full-scale facility testing services to government agencies and private companies who are involved with hazardous operations or materials. Dates of Employment for 2027:

Spring/Summer Term:

Monday, January 11th at 9:00 a.m. CST

• Friday, August 20th at noon

Summer/Fall Term:

Monday, May 10th at 9:00 a.m. CST

• Friday, December 17th at noon Full time: 40 hours per week

Location:
Chicago, IL Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist Project Managers and apply standard engineering/ scientific techniques using procedures and criteria assigned by technical staff. Perform routine engineering calculations, assist at test range facility, conduct research, prepare presentations and report material and CAD drawings. Gain experience in Loss Prevention Engineering, Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA), Qualitative Process Hazards Analysis, Reliability Engineering, Risk Management, Consequence Analysis, and Frequency Analysis.

Requirements:

Pursuing a bachelor's degree with a minimal 3.0 GPA in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline. Junior or Senior level student. Proficiency in MS office suite. Ability to learn engineering software as needed to perform specific tasks as assigned by engineers. Excellent oral and written communication skills required to interact with internal and external contacts. EXPERIENCE GAINED

Understanding of process safety principles. Assisting project managers in technical process safety work for clients, and prepare documents such as reports, proposals, and presentations. Opportunity to work with and build relationships with fellow Co-ops and other full time staff. Perform a research project on a process safety related topic. Each Co-op is assigned a mentor that helps guide the student through new avenues of learning.

SCHEDULE

Time dependent, Co-ops usually get a chance to visit our test facility near San Antonio to observe a demonstration for jet fire or vapor cloud explosion testing.
