About this opportunity : The Process Development Senior Scientist plans and conducts development of processes and methods for the synthesis, purification, ultrafiltration, and lyophilization of new and existing oligonucleotide products. Prepares and tests samples for analysis. Conducts and helps lead product scale-up, process optimization, and process characterization activities. Reports status of assigned activities to Process Development leadership. Normally receives general instruction on routine work and on new assignments. Provides technical direction and detailed instruction to laboratory personnel for routine work and on new assignments.
Key Responsibilities:
Carries out laboratory work to develop/improve oligonucleotide processes and to assist in the solution of manufacturing process issues. Conducts laboratory preparations of API samples for customer use utilizing best available procedures and practices to produce requested amounts of material with acceptable quality attributes. Participates in PD project team activities ensuring that project requirements and timelines are met. Updates PD Management, project teams, and customers as appropriate on project activities Prepares appropriate sections of technical development protocols, technical development reports, and campaign summary reports to properly document laboratory experimentation and conclusions. Maintains and reviews laboratory documentation using standard scientific record keeping practices Adheres to all company and departmental environmental health and safety policies and procedures. Performs and monitors assigned group responsibilities to maintain an efficient operating laboratory Maintains an appropriate level of training on company and departmental procedures as determined by Avecia and Process Development. Prepares draft departmental operational procedures and work instructions. Develops and maintains up-to-date knowledge of oligonucleotide chemistry principles, theories, and processes
Required Skills/Abilities:
Bachelor's degree and 8+ years related experience in science-related discipline, Master's degree and 5+ years related experience in science-related discipline, or Ph. D. degree and 0+ years related experience in science-related discipline. General knowledge of chemical laboratory procedures and equipment. The annualized salary for this position is $103,800.00 - $127,000.00.
