The Engineering Interns have an opportunity to work in the Laser Diode Assembly area. Interns will have the opportunity to work alongside current engineers as a team member, supporting and maintaining the production process, implementing new technologies and utilizing their engineering knowledge to find solutions and report information. The most successful candidates are eager to learn new skills, understand and demonstrate what they have learned in their engineering courses and are interested in being hands on in a production environment.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Duties/Responsibilities:
Laser Diode Assembly:
Grasp the process for evaluating and improving Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD-ebeam/thermal) process, and/or Equipment Learn materials and equipment as it relates to the process and how they interact Learn and utilize material characterization techniques such as Xray Fluorescence, profilometry, SEM Study how to optimize process and/or equipment variables Support current engineers in identifying all process variations and work towards variability control Perform containment of process and equipment deviations, process mapping and commonality study Determine root cause and implement corrective actions & preventive actions Engage in manufacturing process execution and control in a cleanroom environment. Take part in the hands-on process development for semiconductor device fabrication Support experiments for improving processes or procedures such as yield, repeatability, and performance of tools and/or processes Document various manufacturing processes and procedures
Requirements Education:
Must be enrolled in an engineering degree program with a college or University Engineering degrees in the following disciplines are preferred: Material Science/Electrical Engineering or related Candidates should have completed their second year to complete the internship program
Experience:
Basic knowledge of engineering principles and practices. Experience with MS Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Familiar with Experimental Design and working with engineering data & statistical analysis
Abilities:
Strong oral, written and interpersonal skills required for interaction within groups and other departments Results-oriented, with ability to multitask Aptitude to learn new systems and technologies Ability to maintain professional demeanor at all times and follow organizational policies and procedures Attention to detail
Required:
Must be able to work from the IPG facility located in Oxford MA Working hours must align with production which frequently require 10 hours per day Must have reliable transportation to arrive to work on time
Physical Requirements:

Pay Range:
The pay range on this posting applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location posted, the applicable range could differ. Actual starting pay is determined by a number of factors including relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.
