Plastic Process Technician will be responsible for setting up and shutting down plastic injection molding equipment, performing mold changes, and troubleshooting molding defects and equipment issues. This role provides an opportunity to further develop technical skills while working alongside a diverse and supportive team to produce high-quality plastic components. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with plastic injection molding, strong troubleshooting abilities, and enjoys working collaboratively to solve complex technical challenges in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Shift:
2nd shift, Monday-Friday, 3:00 PM-11:10 PM, including overtime and weekends as business needs arise
Target Pay:
$24.76
  • 39.
78/hour + $1.00/hour shift premium + quarterly bonus incentive
Responsibilities:
Start up and shut down plastic injection molding equipment safely and efficiently. Perform timely and accurate installation and removal of injection molds and dies. Assist with troubleshooting plastic injection molding presses and related equipment. Apply knowledge of plastics, raw materials, tooling, and molding processes to identify and resolve production issues. Troubleshoot molding defects, including splay, short shots, and other quality concerns. Communicate equipment issues and breakdowns to the Maintenance team as needed. Work collaboratively with team members to diagnose and resolve complex issues involving robots, hot stamp technology, tooling, and other molding equipment. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement within molding processes and production operations. Support mold changes, crane operations, and color changes as needed. Perform hopper cleaning, moisture checks, dryer setup, and other material preparation activities. Provide technical and production support to team members across the plant as needed. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment. Perform additional responsibilities as requested to support business objectives.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED equivalent, or equivalent experience with 4-5+ years of plastics manufacturing experience. Technical experience with plastic injection molding is required. Hands-on experience with raw materials, mold setup, and injection molding troubleshooting. Strong mechanical and technical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot equipment and process issues. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Basic computer skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Strong visual observation and reasoning abilities. Ability to safely perform the physical functions required to operate and support injection molding equipment. Ability to meet the requirements necessary to safely operate production equipment and perform required job duties.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate degree in Plastics or a related technical field. Previous Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) experience. Experience with overhead chain and crane operations. Previous Routsis or Paulson plastics training. Additional experience with plastic injection molding processes, tooling, robotics, or related manufacturing technologies.
