Job Description
Job Summary The Engineer (Sealant Process) is responsible for designing and implementing innovative, process‑driven sealant and adhesive application solutions that meet and exceed FANUC America customer expectations. This role supports quotation development through process evaluations and feasibility studies and executes sealer and adhesive system business requirements from order receipt through system launch. The ideal candidate is a customer‑focused problem solver who enjoys working cross‑functionally and has experience in paint processes, paint robot programming, and ideally FANUC America robotic systems. Key ResponsibilitiesProcess Engineering & Project Execution Perform process evaluations, feasibility studies, and proposal support prior to the release of customer quotations Design and implement robotic processes using a wide variety of sealant and adhesive applicator products Execute project process requirements upon receipt of customer orders Create and program offline simulations of sealer automation systems Develop accurate analyses and presentation materials based on customer demonstrations Customer & Field Support Serve as the primary technical point of contact during customer system launches (up to 70-80% travel) Conduct customer demonstrations and present technical findings and recommendations Provide technical expertise during sales appointments in collaboration with sales personnel Collaboration & Development Actively participate in new and existing Paintshop Automation Division product development Provide training and mentoring support to less‑experienced engineers Offer continuous improvement feedback to the process engineering group Perform other duties as assigned Required QualificationsEducation & Experience Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent relevant experience) Minimum of 3 years of experience with process engineering and industrial automation systems Minimum of 3 years of experience with industry machine vision systems (e.g., FANUC iRVision, Liberty Reach, Matrox) Must be US Citizen Technical Skills Experience with sealant and adhesive application systems, including pumping and fluid delivery/control equipment Experience with FANUC M‑710 and M‑20 series robots commonly used in sealer processes Familiarity with FANUC Roboguide software, including HandlingPRO and PaintPRO Familiarity with DCS (Dual Check Safety) and industrial safety systems Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other web‑based applications Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in a related technical field Minimum of 5 years of experience with sealant and adhesive application equipment Experience with FANUC ISD and IPS dispensing systems Experience launching robotic systems at customer facilities Advanced FANUC robot programming experience Ability to speak multiple languages Required Competencies Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and develop solutions Excellent organization and planning skills, capable of managing multiple complex tasks simultaneously Collaborative team player comfortable working in a dynamic, sometimes unstructured environment Strong interpersonal, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills High level of personal initiative and self‑management Physical & Mental Requirements Ability to spend extended time on manufacturing shop floors Ability to stand and walk for long periods on concrete and steel grating Exposure to industrial chemicals, including PVC sealers and two‑component adhesives Good visual acuity, hearing, and speaking skills for technical evaluations and customer presentations Ability to travel frequently (approximately 70-80%) Ability to multitask, manage deadlines, learn new processes, and work independently Willingness to work overtime as needed to meet critical project deadlines
