Job Description
NPI Engineer
Actalent
Responsibilities+ Responsible for assigned product/process development through the early phases of the product life cycle.+ Collaborate with the customer and provide manufacturability feedback.+ Coordinate NPI technical functions within the NPI department and a cross-functional team.+ Develop key process variables for machining and secondary operational processes.+ Develop process BOO/BOM structures within the ERP system.+ Assist with the creation of NPI control plan, PFMEA, qualification, and GR&R activities.+ Responsible for the first run manufacturing process and key process output variable success.+ Design, document, and improve developed processes, procedures, and work instructions.+ Create and execute engineering tests.+ Assist in the development of CNC toolpath design and CNC programming methodology.+ Design tools, fixtures, and part work-holding.+ Assist with all costing and quoting functions.
Essential Skills+ 4+ years of experience in process development and improvement.+ Experience in production manufacturing, particularly machining.+ Proficiency in lean manufacturing and manufacturing engineering.+ Experience in new product introduction, process engineering, and continuous improvement.+ Knowledge of Six Sigma methodologies.+ Experience in customer relations and sales engineering.+ Proficiency with BOM and ERP systems.+ Experience with PFMEA and gage R&R activities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications+ Bachelor's degree in Engineering or an associate degree with 5 years of experience in an applicable field.+ Experience with CAD software.+ Proficient PC skills in a Windows environment, especially Word and Excel.+ Experience working within an ISO environment.+ Effective written and verbal communication skills.+ Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.+ Strong cross-departmental knowledge and coordination skills.+ Proficient in multi-tasking between several development activities.+ Ability to travel between sites as needed.+ Experience in the design and selection of fixturing and tooling for complex parts.+ Experience in a precision machine shop environment.+ LEAN/Six Sigma training and demonstrated application.+ Experience with CAM software; Swiss or Milling.
