Job Description

Location:
St. Louis, MO (Company-Paid Relocation Available) We are seeking a highly experienced Technical Manager to lead our technical organization and oversee the development, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing technology across the site. This role is heavily hands-on and technically driven and requires deep expertise in blow molding, injection molding, and process engineering within plastics manufacturing . This position is ideal for a leader who can combine technical authority, people leadership, and process discipline to drive operational excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement in a high-volume manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities Technical & Process Leadership (Core Requirement) Provide direct technical leadership across blow molding and injection molding operations , with a strong emphasis on process engineering, troubleshooting, and optimization Serve as the site technical authority for molding processes, tooling, molds, machines, and material behavior Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions for process, tooling, and equipment issues impacting quality, efficiency, or uptime Team Leadership & Development Lead, mentor, and develop a technical organization of 15-17 direct and dotted-line reports , including technicians and machine operators Build a high-performance, accountability-driven technical culture focused on safety, quality, and continuous improvement Tool Room & Equipment Oversight Manage the tool room, including mold maintenance, mold repair, tooling lifecycle management, and procurement of new molds and tooling Oversee troubleshooting and technical performance of molding equipment and associated systems Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner closely with Operations, Product Management, Quality, and Customer teams to align technical execution with business objectives Support new product development and commercialization through process capability assessments and technical feasibility input Strategic & Operational Excellence Develop and execute technical strategies that improve efficiency, uptime, quality, and cost Establish and monitor KPIs related to process performance, reliability, scrap, and productivity Identify technical and operational risks and implement mitigation strategies Compliance & Safety Responsible for food safety, food quality, and site safety , ensuring all processes meet regulatory and company standards Required Qualifications (Emphasis Added) Critical Experience Requirements (Must-Have): 5+ years of hands-on technical and process experience in plastic blow molding and injection molding Demonstrated process engineering expertise , including setup, optimization, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement Strong working knowledge of plastic tooling, mold repair, and machine maintenance Experience with PET and HDPE materials Direct experience with equipment such as Aoki, Uniloy, and Sumitomo (or equivalent platforms)
Leadership Experience:
Minimum 2+ years in a technical or maintenance leadership role , managing teams in a manufacturing environment
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Maintenance Management, or a related field preferred , or equivalent on-the-job technical training and experience
Additional Competencies:
Proven ability to train, mentor, and develop technical talent Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and change-management capabilities Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives in manufacturing environments Relocation Company-paid relocation assistance is provided for this role. Candidates must be willing to relocate to the St. Louis, MO area , with relocation expenses covered by the company.
