Job Description

Job Overview The Junior Controls Engineer will support the design, programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting of industrial automation systems. This role works directly with senior controls engineers, project managers, electricians, and customers to deliver automation and integration projects across manufacturing, material handling, food & beverage, pharmaceutical, warehouse, and industrial facilities. This position is intended for an engineer with 0-3 years of experience who is looking to develop skills in PLC programming, HMI/SCADA development, electrical design, industrial networking, robotics, and field commissioning. Primary ResponsibilitiesControls Design & Development Assist with PLC programming and modifications. Develop and modify HMI screens. Support SCADA development and testing. Create and update electrical drawings and panel layouts. Generate I/O lists, network architecture drawings, and control narratives. Assist in developing machine sequences and functional specifications. System Integration Configure industrial Ethernet networks. Integrate third-party equipment into control systems. Assist with startup and commissioning activities.
Support device setup including:
VFDs Servo systems Remote I/O Vision systems Barcode scanners Safety devices Industrial robots Panel Design & Documentation Create electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical. Develop panel layouts and BOMs. Review vendor documentation. Support UL508A panel design requirements. Maintain project documentation and revision control. Programming Support Assist senior engineers with: PLC programming Rockwell Studio 5000 Siemens TIA Portal AutomationDirect Productivity Suite Keyence KV Studio HMI Development FactoryTalk View Ignition Maple Systems Aveva Edge Emerson Movicon Industrial communications Ethernet/IP Modbus TCP Profinet IO-Link Field Service & Commissioning Travel to customer facilities for startup and support. Perform I/O checkout and device verification. Troubleshoot electrical and controls issues. Support SAT and FAT activities. Assist with customer training. Robotics & Vision Systems Assist with setup and commissioning of: Fanuc Robots Yaskawa Robots Fairino Robots Cognex Vision Systems Keyence Vision Systems Daily Duties Review project requirements. Create and update drawings. Develop PLC and HMI code. Participate in project meetings. Support manufacturing and panel build teams. Troubleshoot field issues remotely and onsite. Generate project documentation. Maintain engineering standards and templates. Preferred Qualifications Internship or co-op experience in industrial automation.

Knowledge of:
NFPA 70 NFPA 79 UL 508A
Industrial safety systems Expected Travel 20-40% travel depending on project workload. Local and nationwide travel for startup, commissioning, and customer support. Pay:
$55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
