Job Description

Process Control Engineer CandidTalent Wilmington, NC Job Details Full-time $100,000 - $120,000 a year 1 day ago Qualifications PLC-based control system operation Industrial automation Manufacturing facility Electrical control system maintenance AC/DC drives Commissioning phase involvement Field commissioning Manufacturing company experience Field engineering Electrical systems commissioning Full Job Description Job Overview Our client is a well-established industrial automation and engineering firm with more than 30 years of experience delivering control systems, OT infrastructure, and manufacturing technology solutions across North America. Known for its technical expertise and long-term customer partnerships, the company supports some of the country's most advanced manufacturing facilities with embedded engineering talent and automation services. This opportunity places you on-site at a flagship manufacturing facility in Wilmington, NC, supporting a highly automated production environment that combines continuous process operations with advanced material handling and inspection systems. As a Process Controls Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining, improving, and modernizing production equipment while working directly with plant engineering, maintenance, and operations teams. What you'll do. You will work in a brownfield plant environment primarily on a Rockwell ControlLogix base, with integrated Siemens S7 content. Day-to-Day means going online with live production code, diagnosing and correcting faults, designing and deploying modifications, and supporting startups and changeovers. Expect a mix of reactive troubleshooting, planned process and equipment improvements, and small-scale capability upgrade projects. You will keep the visualization layer tightly aligned with PLC modifications, working in either iFix or FactoryTalk View depending on the line. VFDs, servos, and motion drives are fully in scope, with a heavy focus on PowerFlex and Yaskawa hardware. What you'll need. 5+ years of hands-on controls engineering in live production environments. Rockwell ControlLogix / Studio 5000 able to go online, modify, and deploy on running programs. Siemens S7 working knowledge (TIA Portal or STEP 7) PowerFlex VFD configuration required. Yaskawa or Kinetix a plus. Field commissioning experience FAT and SAT. US work authorisation, and available as 1099 or open to direct hire. Local to the Wilmington, NC area or able to relocate independently. Who are you. This role suits an experienced controls engineer who likes plant floor work, can hold their own on Rockwell and Siemens, and wants either stable contract income or a direct permanent home with a well established integrator. Why this role is worth considering Most controls contracts in this market are short and reactive: a two to four week startup gig, a panel swap, a single commissioning trip. This one is built differently, It is steady plant work at a tier one manufacturer, a known integrator on the commercial side, and a stack that is broader than a single vendor lane.
