Job Description
Overview The Manager of Chemical and Industrial Hygiene will be a shared service position that acts as the Chemical Hygiene manager for all Wuxi Apptec locations in the U.S. This will include creating and maintaining a Chemical Hygiene Plan for all sites and performing/overseeing all necessary Industrial Hygiene sampling to support those site plans. This manager will also serve as the primary EHS contact for the Cranbury NJ and Natick, MA locations. Responsibilities Is the accountable person for development and execution of U.S. site Chemical Hygiene Plans. Will perform chemical IH sampling for each site as needed. Will perform API or Surrogate equivalent testing to validate control levels for OEB banding categories as part of site Potent Compound programs. Recommends and leads improvements in processes, design, procedures, and control methods associated with chemical and API exposures. Leads and conducts employee training in Chemical Safety. Will own and oversee the shared service MSDS database for all locations. Provides strategic leadership and works with management on identified Chemical Safety issues/recommendations/opportunities to foster continuous improvement of EHS programs and cultrure. Interact and serve as WuXi Chemical Safety SME supporting all regulatory agencies and client Perform annual Corporate audits for Chemical exposure at all relevant locations. Develops, implements, and manages all components of the EHS management systems for the Cranbury and Natick locations. This will include but not limit to LOTO, PPE, Noise, Machine guarding, Potent compounds, etc. Will oversee the accident investigation process, audit performance and CAPA tracking methods as well as any associated metric tracking for Cranbury and Natick. Manages and oversees the site hazardous waste program including collection, accumulation, shipments, as well as all required documentation at the Cranbury and Natick locations. Works on routine assignments per written procedures, where ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is Accomplishes staff results by communicating updated organizational information, job expectations & supporting their work Coaches, counsels, and conducts disciplinary actions Develops, coordinates, and follows organizational systems, policies, procedures, and follows labor and capacity standards Contributes to the overall operations and to the achievement of departmental goals Perform job specific tasks in compliance with applicable Regulations, International Standards, and WuXi AppTec Policies and Standard Operating Thorough understanding of Good Laboratory Practices and Good Manufacturing Practices Other duties as assigned May be required to assist in other departments Qualifications Experience / Education BS/BA in Chemical Engineering preferred; or combination of relevant Experience & Education 10+ years relevant chemical engineering or industrial hygiene experience Preferred CIH certification Knowledge / Skills /
