Corning's Environmental Technologies segment manufactures ceramic substrates and filter products for emissions control in mobile and stationary applications around the world.
Scope of Position:
Supports or leads continuous improvement activities, new product or process introductions and cost reduction projects.
Support manufacturing improvement initiatives, including fundamental understanding, variability reduction, defect reduction and process control improvement.
Improve existing manufacturing processes and capabilities with a focus on extrusion technology.
Develop methods and processes to improve existing products.
Support the implementation of new die technology and processes.
Works with other team members to solve difficult technical, engineer related problems. Day to
Day Responsibilities:
Provide engineering expertise and leadership for extrusion process technologies, supporting daily manufacturing operations through structured problem-solving, root-cause analysis, nonconformance disposition, corrective actions, and the application of engineering principles to resolve process and equipment challenges. Partner with Division Engineering and Development teams to support new die introductions, including equipment installation, process certification, technical documentation, training, and ensuring safe, high-quality, repeatable processes and products in compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Build subject-matter expertise in materials, processes, and equipment; develop detailed technical documentation for key process steps and changes; and train operators and trades personnel on new equipment and processes. Lead or contribute to focused projects, using statistical tools and Design of Experiments (DOE) methodologies to drive process and product improvements, execute DMAIC and cost-reduction initiatives, and support business objectives.
