Job Title:
Manufacturing Process Engineer Job Description This Senior Process Engineer role offers the opportunity to elevate the maturity, discipline, and strategic direction of the Process Engineering function within a growing manufacturing environment. You will provide seasoned technical leadership to a junior team, strengthen engineering fundamentals, and serve as a proactive problem-solver who drives high-value operational improvements across cost, quality, yield, and throughput. This position is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys being the technical go-to on the manufacturing floor while also leading strategic projects and capital initiatives. Responsibilities Support daily manufacturing operations by troubleshooting process and equipment issues and ensuring timely resolution to maintain stable production. Guide the creation, maintenance, and improvement of process documentation, including work instructions and standard operating procedures. Drive strategic, high-impact process improvements focused on reducing cost, improving quality, increasing yield, and enhancing throughput. Manage capital projects from concept through execution, including developing business cases, justifying spend decisions, and overseeing implementation. Lead root cause investigations for process and quality issues and implement robust long-term corrective and preventive actions. Develop and maintain process maps, control plans, FMEAs, and standardized work tools to support consistent and reliable manufacturing performance. Plan, execute, and oversee cross-functional projects, effectively balancing immediate line support needs with longer-term project work. Evaluate equipment, technologies, and processes to improve safety, reliability, and operational efficiency. Support new product introduction by assessing manufacturability, defining process requirements, and leading process scale-up activities. Create clear, data-driven technical reports, analyses, and project updates for stakeholders at various levels of the organization. Provide leadership and mentorship to other engineers and technicians, fostering stronger engineering fundamentals and continuous improvement within the team. Contribute to strategic planning for process engineering, including capital equipment roadmaps and long-term capability development. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline such as Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, Materials, or Polymer Engineering. 5+ years of experience in a Manufacturing or Process Engineering role (may consider less tenure depending on the relevance and depth of experience). Proven experience in manufacturing or process engineering environments, supporting production and driving process improvements. Demonstrated leadership or supervision experience, either through direct reports or leading project teams. Hands-on experience with projecting capital equipment needs and developing strategic timelines for capital investments. Strong project management skills, including planning, prioritizing, and executing multiple initiatives in parallel. Proficiency in process improvement methodologies and tools to enhance cost, quality, yield, and throughput. Experience managing capital expenditure projects, including business case development and execution oversight. Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, interpret, and act on data to drive decisions and improvements. Experience in manufacturing engineering or process engineering roles with cross-functional collaboration. Ability to meet requirements for U.S. export control regulations. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in leadership development, mentoring, or coaching other engineers and technical staff. Background in strategic planning for manufacturing or process engineering functions. Experience evaluating and selecting capital equipment and new technologies for safety, reliability, and efficiency improvements. Familiarity with developing process maps, control plans, FMEAs, and standardized work documentation. Strong communication skills, with the ability to create clear technical reports and present project updates to diverse stakeholders. Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams including R D, Operations, and Engineering. Work Environment This role splits time between the manufacturing floor (approximately 70%) and the office (approximately 30%), providing a mix of hands-on and analytical work. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including R D, Operations, and Engineering, and interact frequently with technicians on the production floor. You will serve as the primary technical point of contact for a designated area of the manufacturing floor while owning and driving specific projects from concept through completion. The environment is dynamic and collaborative, with a strong focus on continuous improvement, operational excellence, and cross-department communication. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kent, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $48.07 - $55.29/hr.
