Chemical Engineer Job Arkema Inc United States, Pennsylvania, Birdsboro 1112 Lincoln Road (Show on map) Sep 01, 2026 Internal Job Description The Arkema Birdsboro site is seeking a Chemical Engineer that will provide the plant with an authoritative source of knowledge and leadership for projects/assignments. They will apply thorough knowledge of High Performance Polymers to conduct engineering and technology work; resolving problems that are often difficult and/or complex. Lead projects across the site as well as work cross-departmentally and across corporate groups as needed. This role is responsible for the following: Plant process ownership including support, development, improvements, troubleshooting and training
Manages all aspects of area projects related to process improvements for small-mid capex investments
Provide root cause analysis
Improve process formulation through review/modification, optimization and updates
Use DMAIC process to collect, record and analyze data to drive production and quality improvement initiatives
Provide troubleshooting support
Provide engineering knowledge and support to all types of personnel, levels and functions of the business unit
General and Process safety
Coordinate and lead site Process Hazard Analyses as Site Process Safety Contact
Lead Pre-startup safety reviews for assigned area and support others
Key contributor to plant safety programs
Plant DCS programming and PLC program stewardship
Manage, maintain and configure updates for plant distributed control system
Manage plant wide PLC programs
Other tasks as necessary
The ideal candidate will have:
A minimum of 3 years process engineer experience with experience in chemical manufacturing preferred
4 year degree in chemical engineering. Other engineering degrees will be considered if previous work in chemical manufacturing exists
Thorough understanding of polyamide technology
Working knowledge of process control logic
Advanced communication and presentation skills
Lean Six Sigma certification preferred
