Jul 29, 2026 Manufacturing Data Systems Intern Position Summary The Manufacturing Data Systems Intern will support digital manufacturing initiatives by helping develop and maintain industrial data infrastructure, visualization tools, and reporting systems. This role provides hands-on experience with manufacturing historians, asset frameworks, data contextualization, and operational analytics platforms. The intern will work closely with engineers and site personnel to improve data accessibility, visualization, and reporting capabilities across multiple manufacturing facilities. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain Asset Framework templates, elements, and attributes to support the organization's manufacturing data lake and digital manufacturing architecture. Assist with the contextualization and organization of process, equipment, and production data within the PI Asset Framework and Aspen mMDM. Create, modify, and enhance process graphics and dashboards using Aspen A1PE and PI Vision. Collaborate with engineers and operations personnel to improve visualization standards and user experience for manufacturing data displays. Support development and maintenance of Event Frames for batch tracking, production monitoring, downtime analysis, and operational reporting. Perform data extraction, validation, and analysis using PI System, Aspen IP.21, and Microsoft Excel. Develop and maintain spreadsheets, reports, and data tools that support operational decision-making and performance monitoring. Assist with troubleshooting data quality issues and validating historian data against plant records and process information. Support special projects involving manufacturing analytics, historian integrations, and digital transformation initiatives such as the global data lake project. Support Distributed Control Systems graphics development. Preferred Qualifications Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related technical discipline. Interest in manufacturing systems, industrial data, process automation, or operational technology (OT). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Experience with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis. Familiarity with databases, SQL, scripting, or industrial software platforms is a plus. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with engineering and operations teams. Skills Developed Industrial historian systems (OSIsoft PI System and Aspen IP.21) Asset Framework development and data contextualization Manufacturing data visualization and dashboard design Event Frame configuration and operational analytics Process data analysis and reporting Digital manufacturing and Industry 4.0 technologies Knowledge of manufacturing processes and application of developing process engineering skills into IT/OT technologies. What you will get out of this assignment Immersion in a corporate office and manufacturing support environment. Develop knowledge in manufacturing control and monitoring systems from Distributed Control Systems through data historians and up to enterprise systems.
