Operations / Engineering About the Role Lonza is seeking a Senior Controls Systems Engineer for a 6-month assignment to support critical Continuous Improvement initiatives. This role is ideal for a seasoned DeltaV specialist who thrives in dynamic, high-velocity project environments. Rather than maintaining a steady-state operation, you will actively drive automation enhancements, process optimization, and capital project executions.
Work Arrangement & Flexibility:
On-site frequency is tailored to experience level. Exceptional, highly experienced engineers may qualify for a hybrid schedule requiring as little as 1 week per month on-site, whereas candidates requiring more onboarding and oversight will be expected to be primarily or fully on-site.
Key Responsibilities Continuous Improvement Projects:
Lead automation and control system upgrades, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives across site manufacturing assets.
DeltaV Systems Engineering:
Design, configure, test, and implement robust Emerson DeltaV control strategies tailored for fast-paced project delivery.
Project Execution:
Drive active project workflows—from requirements gathering and functional specification to execution and validation—within aggressive project timelines.
Cross-Functional Technical Support:
Partner closely with Process Engineering, Validation, Quality, and Manufacturing Operations to support capital projects and plant improvements.
Secondary PLC Support:
Collaborate with the automation team on minor PLC programming tasks and system integrations as needed.
Key Requirements Must-Haves:
DeltaV Project Experience:
Extensive, practical experience implementing and executing DeltaV control systems in fast-paced, high-volume project environments (e.g., CDMOs, system integrators, biotech start-ups, or greenfield/brownfield expansion projects).
Engineering Expertise:
Senior-level proficiency as a Controls Systems Engineer, Automation Engineer, or DeltaV Specialist with a deep understanding of process control logic and system architecture.
Project Delivery Mindset:
Proven track record of delivering active engineering projects rather than solely maintaining steady-state/routine support environments.
Nice-to-Haves:
PLC Programming:
Hands-on experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.).
Industry Experience:
