Job Description

Senior Controls Engineer Piedmont Triad or Hickory area, North Carolina. Remote-first, around 25 percent regional travel. $100,000 to $145,000 base plus a 10 to 25 percent bonus. For a controls engineer who still wants to be in the code and on the plant floor, owning projects end to end. You would join a small, senior systems integrator working across the Carolinas and Virginia. Ten people, almost all experienced engineers, doing heavy process and industrial work: front-end and electrical design, PLC and drives programming, SCADA and commissioning for large process plants. You would work directly with the founders and with clients. The firm is profitable, has grown for years, and has never made a sales call. Work is repeat and comes largely via referral. The owners are hands-on engineers known for treating people well, and engineers tend to stay. What you'll do Primarily Rockwell (Studio 5000, RSLogix 5000) with some Siemens, plus SCADA and HMI in FactoryTalk View, Wonderware, iFIX or WinCC. You would also handle electrical design: MCC and panel design, redlines, and template based drawings. Expect several small to medium projects at once, each taken from design through FAT, SAT and commissioning. Commissioning is roughly a week on site at a time, within driving range and fully expensed. What you'll need Five to twenty five years owning controls projects from design to commissioning. Strong, current Rockwell programming is the core requirement, code you are writing now, not reviewing. Real depth in at least one SCADA or HMI platform, plus comfort with electrical design and one-line diagrams. An SI background and heavy process experience (chemical, utilities, glass, power) are pluses, not must-haves. Why it's worth a look
  • Hands-on owners known for treating people well
  • Real ownership from design through commissioning
  • Steady repeat work, no cold selling, no feast-or-famine
  • Sensible travel, mostly home, fully expensed
  • Base to $145,000 plus a bonus up to 25 percent
  • Medical, 401k match, three to four weeks combined PTO
  • Growing 20 to 30 percent a year, with a local office on the way If you have strong Rockwell and process controls experience and want to own real projects in a stable, well-run business, it is worth a conversation.
