  • \$150,000 annually (commensurate with experience), exempt Position Overview We are seeking a Process Engineer with hands-on experience in industrial process vacuum systems to support the design, application engineering, and technical sale of custom vacuum solutions.
This role blends strong process engineering expertise with customer-facing technical sales, supporting customers from concept development through system design, delivery, and startup. Key Responsibilities
  • Process & Application Engineering Design, size, and specify vacuum jet (steam or gas ejector), liquid ring vacuum pump, and hybrid vacuum systems Evaluate customer process conditions including fluids, vapors, condensables, non-condensables, temperature, pressure, fouling, and corrosion Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs), basic P&IDs, and performance calculations Select appropriate technologies based on process requirements, energy efficiency, reliability, and lifecycle cost Specify materials of construction, sealing fluids, condensers, intercondensers, and ancillary equipment Support troubleshooting, optimization, and debottlenecking of existing systems Technical Sales & Customer Engagement Serve as the technical interface between customers, sales, and internal engineering teams Support proposal development including technical descriptions, performance guarantees, and scope definition Participate in customer meetings, site visits, and technical presentations Explain tradeoffs between vacuum jets, liquid ring pumps, hybrid systems, and mechanical vacuum alternatives Support system startup, commissioning, and performance validation Product & Market Development Provide feedback on customer needs, application gaps, and product improvement opportunities Assist with development of standardized and modular vacuum systems Monitor industry trends in process vacuum, separation technologies, and energy optimization Required Qualifications Bachelor\'s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field 3+ years of direct experience with design, sizing and application of steam jet ejectors, liquid ring vacuum pumps, or hybrid jet\' liquid ring vacuum systems.
Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and process design. Ability to read and develop PFDs and P&IDs Comfortable working directly with customers in technical or applications roles Willingness to travel as required Preferred Qualifications Experience in chemical, pharmaceutical, biotech, food processing, specialty chemical, or thermal power industries Familiarity with surface condensers, barometric condensers, condensate systems, and vacuum system energy optimization Experience supporting custom-engineered capital equipment sales Master\'s degree (MS) Skills & Attributes Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities Clear communicator able to explain complex technical concepts Commercial mindset grounded in sound engineering principles Self-directed, organized, and comfortable managing multiple projects and customers Collaborative and customer-focused What We Offer Competitive base salary of \$100,000
