Job Description

Senior Process Engineer Job Description The Senior Process Engineer leads and coordinates process and mechanical engineering activities across all phases of complex engineering projects, from planning and design through construction and startup. This role focuses on developing and reviewing piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), preparing detailed calculations and specifications, and ensuring that all engineering deliverables comply with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements. The position requires strong technical expertise, experience in mechanical systems and equipment design, and the ability to work effectively with multi-disciplined design teams in a manufacturing and process engineering environment. Responsibilities Plan, organize, and coordinate process and mechanical engineering activities for multi-disciplined design projects throughout the planning, design, construction, and startup phases. Lead and support construction document reviews to ensure technical accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements and applicable codes and standards. Prepare and review engineering calculations and specifications related to Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) development. Develop, review, and validate design and evaluation calculations to support mechanical systems and equipment design. Create, review, and refine engineering specifications for process and mechanical systems to ensure they meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements. Demonstrate and apply design experience in mechanical systems and equipment design across a variety of applications, including complex or specialized systems. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to integrate process, mechanical, and other engineering disciplines into cohesive project designs. Utilize computer-aided drafting applications to support the development, review, and coordination of engineering drawings and documents. Support estimating and construction document preparation by providing accurate technical input, calculations, and design details. Apply working knowledge of federal, state, and local codes and standards, including Department of Energy Orders where applicable, to all mechanical engineering design activities. Essential Skills Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in engineering, including design, estimating, specification preparation, construction document preparation, and related phases of engineering; nuclear industry experience preferred. Strong background in manufacturing engineering and process engineering. Proven experience in mechanical systems and equipment design. Demonstrated ability to prepare and review calculations and specifications related to Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) development. Ability to generate and review accurate design and evaluation calculations and engineering specifications. Proficiency with computer-aided drafting applications. Working knowledge of federal, state, and local codes and standards applicable to mechanical engineering design, including Department of Energy Orders where relevant. Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate process and mechanical engineering tasks within multi-disciplined project teams. Additional Skills & Qualifications Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred. Experience with nuclear-related projects or facilities is highly desirable. Strong organizational and coordination skills for managing multi-disciplined engineering and design projects. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams throughout planning, design, construction, and startup phases. Work Environment This position is based in a dedicated engineering headquarters office environment in Greenville. The role involves working closely with multi-disciplined engineering teams, using computer-aided drafting applications and other engineering design tools on a daily basis. Work is primarily office-based, focused on design, calculations, document preparation, and construction document reviews, with typical professional office attire expected. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Greenville, SC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $75.00 - $75.00/hr.
