Chemical Engineer Job Description This Chemical Engineer role supports engineering and manufacturing teams by ensuring the safe and effective use of materials and cooling systems in a production environment. The position focuses on evaluating materials, including liquid coolants such as PG25, identifying appropriate engineering controls, and developing robust processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain safe, efficient, and compliant operations. Responsibilities Evaluate materials, including liquid coolants such as PG25, to ensure proper handling, storage, and usage in a production environment. Identify, recommend, and implement appropriate engineering controls to support safe operation of cooling and thermal systems. Develop, document, and maintain detailed standard operating procedures (SOPs) for material handling, coolant usage, and related processes. Support manufacturing and engineering teams in designing and maintaining safe, efficient, and reliable processes involving fluids, materials, and thermal systems. Monitor material and coolant performance, including heat exchange systems, and assist in troubleshooting issues to improve reliability and efficiency. Ensure compliance with relevant safety, process safety, and regulatory standards in all material and coolant-related activities. Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and environmental health and safety (EHS) teams to drive continuous improvement in safety and process performance. Contribute technical expertise on liquid coolant systems and heat exchange processes to support large-scale manufacturing operations. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in engineering. Experience working with liquid coolant PG25. Experience working with fluids, materials, or thermal systems. Strong understanding of process safety principles and their application in a manufacturing or industrial setting. Proven experience developing process documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve process and materials issues. Comfort working in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Technical knowledge of heat exchange systems and cooling processes. Additional Skills & Qualifications Background as a chemical engineer or in a closely related engineering discipline. Experience supporting manufacturing operations involving large-scale assemblies. Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, operations, and EHS teams. Attention to detail when evaluating materials, documenting procedures, and monitoring performance. Strong communication skills for clearly documenting SOPs and conveying technical information to cross-functional teams. Work Environment The role is based in a manufacturing environment focused on large form assembly, where you work closely with engineering, operations, and EHS teams on the shop floor and in production areas. You will interact regularly with liquid coolant systems, heat exchange equipment, and other process technologies used in industrial and thermal system applications. The position operates in an exempt (salaried) capacity and involves hands-on work in an industrial setting, requiring comfort around production equipment, materials handling, and process operations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Memphis, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $48.07 - $48.07/hr.
