OVERVIEW S&B
is currently seeking a talented and dynamic Lead Process Engineer to join our team at our Park Place office in Houston, TX. As a Lead Process Engineer, you will play a crucial role in planning, scheduling, and coordinating various activities related to Process Engineering. You will be responsible for overseeing multiple small refining projects in various FEL stages as well as other chemicals projects. We are looking for someone who is highly skilled and proficient in all conventional aspects of Process Engineering. Your expertise will be crucial in evaluating, selecting, and adapting standard Process Engineering methods and procedures, requiring the application of independent judgment. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
May function as a group leader over less experienced engineers and specialists. Is responsible for coordinating and reviewing progress of group activities.
EDUCATION
Normally requires at least a four-year degree in Chemical Engineering.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Requires a minimum of ten (10) years experience in Process/Design Engineering or related functional area (or equivalent working knowledge/experience). Has proficiency in utilizing various computer software packages and automated engineering design tools. Registration as a licensed professional engineer is preferred.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Analyzes client requirements and designs process and plant facilities. Develops process engineering requirements for the design, control and operation of a process plant. Prepares calculations and design basis for equipment specifications. Develops process deliverables including Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Equipment Datasheets, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and Process Specification for Instruments (PSFIs). Communicates process design to client and other design disciplines. Participates in process safety reviews.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to correspond with clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to senior management, public groups and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Occasionally, will conduct or participate in a field trip to an operating plant or construction site. This requires normal hearing, the ability to stand, walk, reach, climb and balance, clear close and distance vision, depth perception and the ability to focus. Lifting up to 25 pounds may be required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Normal work environment will be a business office with moderate noise. Occasionally, may visit or be temporarily assigned to work in an operating plant or at an construction site. This may require exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noise, work near moving mechanical parts, electrical energy, construction equipment, vibration, fumes, chemicals and airborne particles.
