Job Description

Our DoD/Aerospace client is looking to fill an Advanced Materials & Process Engineer - Composites position that just opened in Marion, VA. In this role, you will lead development of strategic tasks or small projects to meet technical goals. To be considered, you will have a Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of related experience.

Pay:
$64.29/hour Responsibilities Lead development of strategic tasks or small projects to meet technical goals. Support production program investigations related to materials and processes; recommend solutions. Develop and execute qualification testing (test plans, on-site support, reporting). Contribute to internal R D projects and feasibility studies. Prepare cost estimates and technical content for proposals. Identify and mitigate technical and organizational risks. Travel up to 10% as required.
Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM field. 5+ years of relevant experience, or Master's degree with 3+ years of experience. Clearance Requirements Active or ability to obtain: DoD Secret clearance within a reasonable timeframe. U.S. citizenship is required due to the nature of work and access to classified information.
Preferred Experience:
Polymer matrix composite manufacturing processes (hand lay-up/autoclave cure, adhesive bonding, RTM). Polymer chemistry of epoxy, BMI, polyimide, and cyanate ester resins for pre-preg fabrics and tapes. Developing process specifications and work instructions for composite fabrication. Composite material testing and qualification (mechanical and thermal). Chemical surface treatments, electroless/electroplating on non-metallic surfaces, and metal etching. Implementing new processes, quality controls, and operator training. Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications; strong analytical/problem-solving skills. Experience with coatings is a plus. Work Environment 100% on-site in Marion, VA.
