Job Description
Structural Engineer Overview Seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to support the design, review, assessment, and evaluation of structural projects across a large geographic region. This role will provide technical expertise for facility assessments, project planning, design reviews, engineering analysis, scope development, cost estimating, and construction support activities. The ideal candidate has strong structural engineering experience, extensive AutoCAD proficiency, and a solid understanding of building codes, structural systems, and foundations. Non-Negotiable Requirements Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering (Structural emphasis required) 5+ years of structural engineering experience 5+ years of hands-on AutoCAD experience Demonstrated experience with structural analysis and design Experience with building codes including IBC, IRC, and related standards Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance Preferred Qualifications Professional Engineer (PE) license Master's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering Experience with waterfront facilities, utility structures, towers, and shore-side facilities Experience designing for seismic, snow, and wind loading conditions Experience with concrete, steel, and timber structural systems Experience reviewing engineering design packages and construction documents Experience in Alaska, remote, arctic, or harsh environmental conditions Key Responsibilities Perform structural engineering evaluations, assessments, and technical reviews Develop project scopes of work, cost estimates, and design packages Create and review engineering drawings using AutoCAD Review contractor and architect/engineer design submissions Provide engineering guidance and technical problem resolution Conduct facility condition assessments and field investigations Support construction projects through design review and contract modifications Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, contractors, and stakeholders Travel periodically to project and operational sites for inspections and assessments Work Environment Primarily office-based with occasional field work Periodic travel, including overnight travel, may be required Exposure to construction sites, adverse weather conditions, ladders, confined spaces, and remote locations may occur
