Job Description
Young Management & Consulting (YMC) is seeking an experienced and motivated Civil Site Development Engineer to provide engineering design support for civil infrastructure improvements at power generation facilities and other industrial sites. This position is responsible for the planning, design, and development of grading, drainage, roadway, stormwater management, and erosion control systems that support facility operations, environmental compliance, and capital improvement projects. The successful candidate will prepare complete engineering design packages, construction drawings, technical calculations, and supporting documentation while collaborating with project managers, environmental specialists, construction personnel, and other engineering disciplines. This role requires strong technical expertise in civil site development, proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, and the ability to support projects from initial concept through construction. Limited travel to project sites is required to perform field assessments, collect site information, validate design assumptions, and provide construction support. Key ResponsibilitiesCivil Engineering Design Develop civil site development designs for industrial facilities, power plants, substations, and related infrastructure projects. Prepare grading and earthwork plans to support new construction, facility expansions, and site improvements. Design stormwater management systems, drainage infrastructure, detention facilities, culverts, swales, and storm sewer networks. Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses in support of site development and stormwater management requirements. Design roadway layouts, access roads, parking areas, utility corridors, and site circulation improvements. Develop erosion and sediment control plans in accordance with regulatory requirements and environmental best practices. Prepare engineering calculations supporting civil designs, including grading, drainage, runoff, and stormwater management. Construction Drawings & Documentation Develop complete civil construction drawing packages utilizing company drafting standards, templates, and CAD procedures. Produce detailed engineering drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D. Prepare design sketches, technical exhibits, plan profiles, sections, and construction details. Ensure engineering packages are complete, accurate, and suitable for construction. Review drawings for quality assurance and compliance with project requirements. Maintain organized engineering files and project documentation throughout the project lifecycle. Project & Construction Support Provide technical engineering support during construction activities. Respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) and assist with field-related engineering questions. Evaluate field conditions and recommend design modifications when necessary. Support construction teams by resolving design issues and coordinating engineering revisions. Participate in design review meetings and interdisciplinary coordination efforts. Assist with special engineering assignments and capital improvement initiatives. Site Assessments Conduct site visits to obtain field measurements, verify existing conditions, and support engineering design development. Document existing site conditions through field notes and photographic documentation. Evaluate constructability considerations and identify potential design challenges. Coordinate with plant personnel and project stakeholders during field investigations. Support project teams by validating design assumptions through field observations. Collaboration & Communication Coordinate with environmental specialists, project managers, structural engineers, electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and construction personnel. Interface effectively with contractors, consultants, vendors, regulatory agencies, and client representatives. Present technical recommendations during project meetings. Maintain clear communication throughout all phases of project execution. Support multiple projects simultaneously while meeting established schedules and project milestones. Technical Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution. Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred or the ability to obtain licensure. Minimum 5+ years of civil engineering experience supporting industrial, utility, energy, or infrastructure projects.
