Job Summary We are seeking a very self-motivated, Alabama licensed P.E. for a special opportunity in the civil/environmental engineering field. Candidates could also be successful with backgrounds in fields such as mechanical or ag/biosystems engineering. Company owner will provide training and collaboration within the main specialty relevant to this position. Ideal candidate will be a self-starter who enjoys having a white-collar profession with a lot of blue-collar exposure/hands-on opportunities. This particular field involves a lot of very rewarding challenges and problem-solving opportunities with very measurable results and the ability to experience the appreciation of end-users/customers whose problems have been solved. Typical projects can be completed start to finish in a matter of hours. The scenery changes frequently. The successful candidate will have a lot of control over their own schedule and mix of field/office work. If you've tried the corporate or government life, but have more of a need to roam, get a little dirt on your hands, and solve problems for people on a relatively short timeline, this may be the opportunity for you! If you need to feel a little more connected to the land, this could be your gig. Responsibilities
  • Meet/communicate with customers
  • Gather background/supporting info
  • Perform field work
  • Complete calculations & design work (including 2D CAD)
  • Complete administrative paperwork & billing; prepare for submission to appropriate parties
  • Interact with construction personnel As growth occurs, over time, some of these responsibilities can be taken on by other personnel.
This position should be seen as a job initially, but should be treated as an entrepreneurial pursuit with ownership opportunity over the longer term. Starting on a part-time basis and working toward full-time is possible. This opportunity has the potential to be crafted in quite a variety of ways.
