The Civil Engineer, PE is a senior-level role responsible for leading the design, coordination, and execution of land development and site/commercial projects. This position serves as both a technical expert and project leader, accountable for delivering high-quality, code-compliant designs while ensuring alignment with project scope, schedule, and budget. This role provides leadership and direction to design staff, oversees project execution, and serves as a primary point of contact for clients, agencies, and internal stakeholders. The Civil Engineer, PE is expected to take full ownership of project outcomes, develop creative designs, drive collaboration across disciplines, and deliver solutions that support KAEKO's reputation for excellence.Key Responsibilities:
Lead the planning, design, and delivery of civil engineering projects, including grading, drainage, utility design, and site development Serve as Engineer of Record where applicable, ensuring designs meet all regulatory and professional standards Manage projects from concept through completion, including schedules, budgets, and resource planning Provide leadership, mentorship, and technical oversight to designers and junior engineers Review and approve design documents, calculations, and design plans to ensure accuracy, quality, and completeness Coordinate with internal and external disciplines (Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, Architectural) to ensure fully integrated project delivery Interface directly with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies to support approvals, resolve issues, and maintain strong relationships Prepare and review submittals, reports, feasibility studies, cost estimates, and quantity takeoffs Perform and oversee grading design, drainage analysis, and earthwork calculations Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and jurisdictional requirements Identify risks, think outside the box, solve complex engineering challenges, and proactively drive project solutions Participate in project meetings, provide updates, and contribute to value engineering and cost-saving initiatives Support continuous improvement of design standards, processes, and best practices Provide day-to-day direction and oversight to assigned team members Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing team environment Ensure adherence to company standards, processes, and quality expectations Contribute to broader team and organizational initiatives as needed to support successful project deliveryMinimum Qualifications:
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Arizona (or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe) Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering Minimum 7+ years of progressive civil engineering experience, with demonstrated project leadership Strong experience in land development and site/commercial design Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deliver on time and within budget Proficiency in AutoCAD is preferred; Civil 3D strongly preferred Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction plans, and design standards Experience working with local agencies, codes, and permitting processes Strong leadership and team management skills Excellent communication and client-facing abilities High level of accountability, ethics, and ownership Critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment Commitment to quality, accuracy, and continuous improvementPay:
