Loenbro is seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our engineering team. The Industrial Coatings Project Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing industrial coating projects from initial customer requirements through project completion. This role provides technical expertise in protective coating, surface preparation, corrosion control, and application methods while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with industry standards and customer specifications. Duties/Responsibilities (Essential Functions): Project Management Manage industrial coating projects throughout the project lifecycle. Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and resource plans. Coordinate activities between customers, contractors, operations, suppliers, and quality teams. Monitor project progress and provide regular status updates. Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies. Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. Technical Engineering Support Evaluate coating requirements based on environmental conditions, substrates, and customer specifications. Recommend coating systems for corrosion protection, chemical resistance, abrasion resistance, and aesthetic requirements. Review engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents. Develop coating application procedures and work instructions. Provide technical support during coating application and inspection activities. Quality Assurance & Compliance Ensure compliance with SSPC, NACE/AMPP, ASTM, ISO, and customer standards. Review and approve surface preparation and coating application procedures. Coordinate coating inspections and quality control testing. Investigate coating failures and recommend corrective actions. Maintain project documentation, quality records, and inspection reports. Safety Management Promote and enforce workplace safety standards and environmental compliance. Ensure all coating activities follow OSHA and applicable regulatory requirements. Participate in safety audits, hazard assessments, and incident investigations. Support continuous improvement initiatives related to safety and operational performance.Additional Responsibilities:
Customer & Stakeholder Communication Serve as the primary technical contact for clients and project stakeholders. Participate in project meetings, site visits, and customer presentations. Prepare technical reports, project updates, and closeout documentation. Support business development efforts by providing technical expertise during proposal preparation. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Materials, Industrial, or related discipline). 3+ years of experience managing industrial coating, corrosion protection, painting, or surface treatment projects. Knowledge of protective coating systems, surface preparation methods, and coating application techniques. Familiarity with SSPC/AMPP, NACE, ASTM, and ISO standards. Strong project management and organizational skills. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Preferred Qualifications Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.NACE/AMPP
Coating Inspector Certification. PMP (Project Management Professional) certification. Experience in petrochemical, oil & gas, power generation, marine, water treatment, infrastructure, or manufacturing environments. Experience managing contractors and field service teams.
