Job Description

A leading public power organization is seeking a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer to support the safety, reliability, and performance of hydroelectric generation assets. This role combines dam safety oversight, regulatory compliance, and capital project delivery across a portfolio of hydro facilities, with strong involvement in both engineering design and construction execution. Key Responsibilities Dam Safety & Compliance Oversee dam safety program, including monitoring, inspections, and risk mitigation Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements (e.g., FERC) Manage instrumentation programs and performance data analysis Serve as liaison with regulatory agencies and stakeholders Engineering & Design Perform analysis, design, and inspection of: Dams, tunnels, spillways, powerhouses, and foundations Prepare reports, studies, drawings, specifications, and cost analyses Conduct feasibility studies and technical evaluations Project & Construction Management Lead capital projects from planning through execution Manage engineering consultants, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary teams Oversee scheduling, cost estimating, and construction activities Provide field support and construction oversight as needed Operations Support Troubleshoot plant and equipment issues alongside O&M teams Identify improvements to enhance reliability and generation efficiency Support training and coordination of maintenance activities Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering ~12+ years of experience in hydroelectric or heavy civil infrastructure Strong experience in: Structural/civil design Dam safety & regulatory compliance Project & construction management Experience leading teams and managing consultants
Preferred:
Professional Engineer (PE) license Prior dam safety leadership experience Technical Skills Structural/hydraulic modeling tools (e.g., HEC-HMS) Auto
CAD, GIS
