Role Overview We are looking for a detail-oriented, technically capable Project Engineer to join our team. This role sits at the intersection of pre-construction planning, project coordination, and client engagement. The ideal candidate thrives on reading plans, solving specification challenges, and keeping multiple projects moving simultaneously — from the first take-off through final hardware submittal. You will work closely with our sales team, suppliers, and contractor clients to ensure every project is scoped accurately, delivered on time, and executed without surprises. Key Responsibilities Pre-Construction & Scope Development Review construction documents, architectural drawings, and specifications (Divisions 08 and 10) to develop complete, accurate project scopes Perform detailed quantity take-offs for doors, frames, and hardware packages across commercial, healthcare, and institutional project types Prepare competitive, well-organized project proposals and pricing packages for the sales team and clients Identify value-engineering opportunities and specification alternatives to strengthen our bid position Project Coordination & Engineering Support Manage hardware schedules and door/frame schedules from bid award through approved submittals Coordinate with architects, specifiers, and general contractors on RFIs, substitution requests, and design clarifications Prepare and track hardware submittals; follow up on approvals to protect project timelines Collaborate with our operations team to ensure accurate purchase orders and on-time procurement Client & Supplier Relations Serve as a technical resource for contractor and owner clients throughout the project lifecycle Build and maintain relationships with manufacturer reps and supplier partners to stay current on product lines and lead times Support the sales team in client meetings, job-site visits, and pre-bid walkthroughs as needed Process & Documentation Maintain organized project files, bid logs, and submittal tracking across concurrent projects Contribute to continuous improvement of our estimating tools, templates, and workflows Assist in post-project reviews to sharpen future scoping accuracy Qualifications Required 2+ years of experience in construction project engineering, estimating, or related technical sales role Ability to read and interpret full construction document sets, including architectural, structural, and specification sections Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines without losing accuracy Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel in particular); comfortable learning industry-specific software Clear written and verbal communication — you'll be interfacing with architects, GCs, and owners regularly Preferred Familiarity with door, frame, and hardware products or Division 08 specifications Background in commercial construction, architectural products, or building materials distribution Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Architecture, or a related field
