Job Description

Job Description Insight Global is seeking an Building Engineer to support the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of critical building systems for a commercial facility in Redwood City, CA. This individual will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems while providing exceptional service to building occupants. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with building engineering operations, preventive maintenance programs, BAS monitoring, and vendor coordination. Key Responsibilities Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems. Troubleshoot and repair building equipment to minimize downtime and maintain optimal performance. Conduct routine facility inspections, equipment rounds, and identify maintenance needs proactively. Monitor Building Automation Systems (BAS) and respond to alarms and system issues. Support emergency response activities and after-hours maintenance as needed. Coordinate and oversee third-party vendors performing maintenance and repair work. Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, inventory, and purchase requests. Ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and engineering standards. Strong HVAC/R troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance experience. Experience with electrical and plumbing systems. Universal EPA 608 Certification. Experience using CMMS/work order management systems. Ability to monitor and respond to BAS alarms. Strong customer service and communication skills. Trade school or technical certification in HVAC, electrical, or mechanical systems. Experience overseeing vendors and contractors. Central plant or critical facility experience. Knowledge of energy management and building efficiency initiatives.
