Job Description

Construction Project Engineer
  • Healthcare Barrie + CO | San Diego, California Barrie + CO is seeking a highly motivated Construction Project Engineer with healthcare experience to support complex healthcare and institutional projects in San Diego County.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys solving problems collaboratively, and wants to grow within a dynamic, construction management and design firm. Our work includes active hospital renovations, imaging suite upgrades, OSHPD/HCAI-regulated projects, medical equipment coordination, and large-scale campus improvements for leading healthcare systems and institutional clients. About the Role The Project Engineer will support project management and field coordination efforts from preconstruction through closeout. The ideal candidate understands the unique challenges of healthcare construction, including infection control, phased renovations, shutdown coordination, and working within occupied facilities. This role will work closely with owners, architects, contractors, consultants, hospital staff, and regulatory agencies to help keep projects organized, on schedule, and moving forward. Key Responsibilities Support day-to-day project management and construction administration activities Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas, meeting minutes, and action item tracking Maintain project documentation including RFIs, submittals, ASIs, change logs, and schedules Assist with project budgeting, cost tracking, and invoice review Coordinate healthcare-specific project requirements including: ICRA and interim life safety measures Shutdown planning and utility coordination Medical equipment coordination Infection control logistics

documentation and inspections Conduct site walks and assist with quality control observations Support schedule development and progress tracking Coordinate with IT, low voltage, security, and MEP teams Assist with project closeout, punch lists, turnover documentation, and owner training coordination Maintain proactive communication with clients and project stakeholders Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field 3-8+ years of construction or project management experience Healthcare or hospital project experience strongly preferred Familiarity with
