About the Role The Staff Engineer II - Structural role is a developing-level position for individuals who have built a foundational understanding of structural engineering and are expanding their technical capabilities within the energy sector. In this role, you will support the design and execution of structural systems for industrial facility projects, including foundations and steel structures. Working with limited guidance from experienced engineers, you will perform more advanced structural analysis, contribute to design development, and support project deliverables across multiple phases of execution. You will take on increasing responsibility for assigned work, apply your knowledge of structural principles and industry standards, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated and efficient project outcomes. This role also provides exposure to project coordination activities, allowing you to further develop your technical proficiency, judgment, and independence in a fast-paced project environment. What You'll Do Independently document and lay out complex foundation and steel system designs using established tools with guidance from senior engineers as needed Review drawings and provide markups to ensure functional, constructible designs Apply broad knowledge of foundation types, steel shapes, and appropriate use within industrial environments Interpret and apply ACI, ASCE, IBC, PIP, and relevant codes accurately and efficiently with minimal oversight Review and markup steel and rebar shop drawings to ensure compliance with design intent Build and analyze structural models using RISA, MathCAD, and/or LPILE based on project requirements and equipment drawings Perform pipe rack, foundation, and pipe support analysis while actively collaborating with experienced engineers and P.E.s Summarize structural study outcomes using standard report templates, provide recommendations, and suggest template improvements as needed Prepare and track contractor bid tabulations and make purchase recommendations aligned with project needs Communicate technical concepts clearly through sketches, reports, and concise written correspondence Participate in field coordination and RFI responses under review of senior engineers What You'll Bring Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Civil Engineering (Structural Specialty preferred). Taken and passed Fundamentals of Engineering Exam. Strong work ethic, and willing/able to travel to field project locations as necessary. Excellent communication and organizational skills as well as attention to key prioritized details. Self-motivated and able to quickly react to changing priorities and deadlines. Proficient at the responsibilities required for Staff Engineer I, Structural. Self-manage workload. Demonstrate improvement in technical writing, including team and client communication of details appropriate to the audience.
