Job Description
Construction Project Engineer Volkert Inc. paid time off, 401(k), company vehicle United States, Colorado, Fort Collins Aug 21, 2026 Are we the road to your future? We are currently searching for an experienced Construction Project Engineer to support our West Region located in Denver, Fort Collins, and Colorado Springs, CO. To be considered for this position, applicants must have, at minimum, ten years of heavy highway construction experience and experience on Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) construction projects. What you'll be doing: Oversee construction on heavy highway construction projects, with daily on-site presence
Serve as the Engineer in Responsible Charge on assigned projects and administer all project paperwork
Support project assignments located throughout the Colorado front range, including temporary relocation when necessary
Report directly to the Resident Engineer or Client, as well as to the Volkert manager What you need to have: Minimum of ten years of heavy highway construction experience
Experience on Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) construction projects
Proficiency in reading and understanding construction plans and specifications
Familiarity with computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, PMWeb, and internet/email usage
Ability to obtain the following certifications: Professional Engineering License in Colorado, Traffic Control Supervisor, ACI Concrete Transportation Construction Inspection, and Transportation Erosion Control Supervisor Training
Ability to be on your feet for long periods of time and work flexible hours
Ability to meet the requirements to drive a company vehicle
Willingness to relocate to project locations temporarily, if necessary
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines
Valid driver's license and a satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR) Bonus points if you have: Professional Engineer (P.E.) license, or Engineering Intern (E.I.) status with the ability to obtain a P.E. license within 2 years Why Volkert?
