OVERVIEW Merrick & Company is seeking a college or graduate school Structural, Civil, or Architectural Engineering student for a paid summer internship for Summer 2027 at our Greenwood Village, CO, Tulsa, OK, Richmond, VA, or Chattanooga, TN, office. Merrick's Summer Internship Program offers meaningful, hands-on experience for students. Designed as a shorter-term, exploratory experience, internships allow students to apply what they're learning in school while gaining exposure to real projects, professional collaboration, and day-to-day life at an employee-owned company. The summer internship has a commitment of approximately mid-May through mid-August 2027.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
The intern will gain technical experience and be exposed to a variety of structural engineering in an industrial setting with items potentially including structural analysis using computer finite element analysis, structural steel design, foundation design, concrete design, analysis of existing structures, exposure to AISC, ASCE, and ACI codes and standards, and exposure to drawing creation using AutoCAD or REVIT as well as engineering quality assurance procedures. The position requires collaboration with other disciplines, ability to interface with clients and contractors, follow schedules and budget commitments, work independently, possess good written and oral communication skills, and the ability to solve problems.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Must have graduation date after August 2027 to be eligible.
Must be pursuing an engineering degree in Structural, Civil, or Architectural Engineering from an A.B.E.T. accredited program.
Must be currently enrolled and entering junior year or higher of an undergraduate degree, or currently enrolled in grad school.
Must be eligible to work in the United States without Sponsorship.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Previous internship in Structural Engineering.
Experience with or exposure to AutoCAD or REVIT.
Local candidates preferred.
