POSITION SUMMARY

As a Bauen Studios Project Engineer, you are a key link between the field and project management teams. You support the Superintendent and Project Manager by ensuring the field has accurate information, approved materials, current documents, and timely follow-through needed to safely build quality work on schedule. This is a field-engaged technical role, not solely an administrative position. The Project Engineer must be able to read and interpret plans and specifications, identify conflicts and missing information, verify installed work, assist with quality control, and turn field questions into clear, actionable documentation. The role also owns core project-engineering functions including RFIs, submittals, procurement tracking, meeting documentation, daily-log support, and project records. The ideal candidate anticipates what the Superintendent will need, closes loops without repeated follow-up, communicates professionally, and takes ownership of issues through final resolution.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Study and maintain working knowledge of the drawings, specifications, approved submittals, RFIs, and contract requirements.
• Perform regular jobsite walks; compare work in place with the contract documents and approved submittals; identify discrepancies, incomplete work, and potential quality concerns before they become rework.
• Support the Superintendent with field quality control, pre-installation planning, mockups, inspections, testing coordination, punch lists, and verification of corrective work.
• Draft, submit, track, and aggressively follow up on RFIs; clearly communicate answers and resulting field impacts to the Superintendent, Project Manager, and affected trade partners.
• Manage submittal preparation, review routing, logs, approvals, resubmissions, and distribution of approved information to the field.
• Maintain procurement and long-lead tracking by working backward from the project schedule and confirming required-on-site dates, fabrication status, deliveries, and constraints.
• Prepare meeting agendas and minutes; maintain action-item logs; assign responsible parties and due dates; and follow items through completion.
• Support accurate daily logs, progress photographs, inspection records, delivery documentation, drawing updates, and other Procore project records.
• Document field changes promptly, including direction received, existing conditions, photographs, labor, equipment, material impacts, schedule impacts, and potential contractual responsibility.
• Assist with subcontractor coordination, scheduling confirmations, delivery planning, inspections, and communication as directed by the Superintendent and Project Manager.
• Maintain current as-built information and support punch-list completion, turnover documentation, O&M manuals, warranties, training, and project closeout.
• Escalate unresolved issues early and provide practical, solution-oriented options that protect safety, quality, schedule, cost, and the client relationship.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum 1 year of experience in commercial construction as a Project Engineer, Field Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, Assistant Superintendent, or comparable role.
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret civil, structural, architectural, and MEP drawings and specifications; experience with ground-up, site/civil, or self-perform work is strongly preferred.
• Practical understanding of construction sequencing, field layout, tolerances, inspections, testing, and quality-control processes.
• Experience managing RFIs, submittals, procurement logs, meeting minutes, project documentation, and closeout requirements.
• Proficiency with Procore and Microsoft Office; experience with Bluebeam and scheduling software preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant construction experience will be considered.
• OSHA 30 certification preferred, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.

BASE SALARY

$75,000 - $85,000 annually Exact compensation may vary based on experience, qualifications, and project background. Bauen Studios is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
