Job Summary Loenbro is currently seeking a Project Engineer to join our team. The Project Engineer supports the successful planning, execution, and delivery of industrial construction projects through technical coordination, project controls, operational reporting, and data-driven analysis. This role combines traditional project engineering responsibilities with data analysis, reporting, project controls, cost management, and forecasting functions. The Project Engineer will support project execution through technical coordination, performance tracking, forecasting, dashboard development, and data-driven decision-making that improves productivity, schedule performance, cost control, and overall project outcomes. The ideal candidate is highly organized, technically proficient, and comfortable working with large data sets, construction management systems, and project stakeholders across multiple disciplines.Essential Job Responsibilities Project Engineering Support:
Support Project Managers and Superintendents in planning and executing industrial construction projects. Assist with project startup activities, subcontractor coordination, procurement tracking, and material management. Review drawings, specifications, contracts, and project documents to ensure alignment with project requirements. Assist with Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, change orders, meeting minutes, and project correspondence. Monitor project progress and help identify potential risks, delays, and cost impacts.Data Analytics and Reporting:
Collect, analyze, and interpret project performance data from multiple systems and sources. Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations to support project decision-making. Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to safety, productivity, schedule, cost, labor utilization, equipment usage, and project profitability. Identify trends, risks, and opportunities for operational improvement. Develop recurring operational and project performance reports for leadership using data from construction management, scheduling, and financial systems. Support project forecasting efforts through analysis of cost, labor, production, and schedule data. Provide financial and operational reporting to project teams and leadership.Project Controls Support:
Assist in maintaining project schedules and progress tracking. Support budget monitoring, cost reporting, earned value tracking, and change management processes. Analyze project performance against budgets, schedules, and production targets. Assist with forecasting labor requirements, resource allocation, and project completion projections. Generate project performance reports for internal stakeholders and clients.Technical Documentation:
Maintain accurate project records, reports, drawings, specifications, and correspondence. Support document control processes and ensure project files remain current and organized. Assist with creating project turnover packages and closeout documentation. Ensure project documentation complies with company standards and contract requirements.Field Coordination:
Participate in field walks and project meetings to verify project progress and collect project data. Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, and engineering teams. Assist in resolving technical and constructability issues. Support quality assurance and quality control initiatives.Continuous Improvement:
Support implementation and utilization of construction technology platforms. Assist with process improvement initiatives and data-driven decision making. Identify opportunities to improve reporting, project controls, and operational efficiency. Promote a culture of continuous improvement through accurate analysis and actionable recommendations.Other Duties:
Other duties may be assigned as needed to support business operations.Minimum Qualifications Required:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Industrial Technology, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field. 1-4 years of experience in project engineering, project controls, construction management, operations analytics, project analytics, or similar roles. Experience supporting industrial construction, manufacturing, infrastructure, energy, mechanical, electrical, structural, or fabrication projects. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, Power Query, Power Pivot, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, data modeling, and analytical reporting. Experience using construction management platforms such as Procore, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar systems. Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, contracts, schedules, and technical documents. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment. Commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.Preferred:
Experience developing dashboards and visualizations using Power BI, Tableau, or similar business intelligence tools. Experience working with SQL, databases, or large operational data sets. Experience supporting construction project controls, forecasting, earned value management (EVM), or cost engineering. Experience working with ERP, accounting, or project financial systems. Experience automating reports and improving business processes through technology solutions. Combination of office, fabrication shop, and active construction site environments. Frequent interaction with project teams, field personnel, vendors, and clients. Outdoor industrial sites with exposure to weather extremes. Potential exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and other environmental factors. Ability to travel up to 15% as required. Occasional walking on active construction sites and uneven terrain. This role requires compliance with all applicable safety regulations, personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, and Loenbro's Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) policies.
