The Town of Timnath is seeking a motivated and collaborative Civil Engineer II or III to join our Public Works team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of municipal infrastructure projects, including transportation, stormwater, utilities, capital improvements, development review, and public works initiatives that directly impact the quality of life for our residents. Placement within the Engineer II or Engineer III level will be based on the selected candidate's education, experience, certifications, and professional licensure. What You'll Do As a member of our Public Works team, you'll play a key role in planning, designing, reviewing, coordinating, and managing public infrastructure projects from concept through construction and completion.
Responsibilities may include:
Managing capital improvement and infrastructure projects, including roads, trails, drainage systems, utilities, multimodal facilities, and other public improvements. Reviewing engineering plans, development applications, drainage reports, utility plans, traffic studies, permits, and construction documents. Coordinating with developers, consultants, contractors, utility providers, special districts, regulatory agencies, and internal departments. Performing technical analyses, engineering calculations, plan reviews, and field investigations. Supporting construction administration activities, including inspections, pay applications, change orders, project documentation, and project closeout. Assisting with long-range infrastructure planning, capital improvement programming, asset management, and budgeting. Responding to resident inquiries and helping solve real-world infrastructure challenges facing the community. Preparing technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for Town leadership, boards, commissions, and Town Council. Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff, consultants, and project teams. Engineers hired at the III level may also: Lead complex and high-profile infrastructure programs. Provide senior-level technical review and engineering recommendations. Oversee stormwater, drainage, floodplain, utility coordination, and regulatory compliance programs. Serve as a project manager for major capital improvement projects. Mentor engineering staff and contribute to strategic planning and department initiatives. What We're Looking ForMinimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field. Demonstrated experience in municipal engineering, public works, land development, capital projects, transportation, utilities, stormwater, construction management, or related disciplines. Strong project management, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to build productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Valid driver's license or ability to obtain one upon hire. Preferred Qualifications Engineer-in-Training (EIT), Fundamentals of Engineering (FE), or Professional Engineer (PE) credential. Experience with municipal infrastructure systems, development review, transportation, drainage, stormwater, floodplain management, or utility coordination. Experience managing consultants, contractors, budgets, schedules, and capital projects. GIS, CAD, Bluebeam, project management, permitting, or asset management software experience. Why Timnath? Engineer II:
Typically requires approximately 5+ years of progressively responsible engineering experience.
Engineer III:
