Aerospace & Defense Recruiting Company:
SkyBridge Aviation Overview SkyBridge Aviation is seeking an experienced Mechanical / Structural Engineer to support the design, development, and integration of aerospace structural components and mechanical systems. This position requires a strong background in aerospace mechanical design, with extensive hands-on experience using Siemens NX (Unigraphics) to develop complex 3D models, structural assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting aircraft structural modifications, mechanical systems integration, and engineering projects from initial concept through design, fabrication, prototyping, testing, and final implementation. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams on advanced aerospace and defense programs. Duties Design and develop mechanical components, structural assemblies, and installation hardware for aerospace applications. Create detailed 3D CAD models, complex mechanical assemblies, and 2D engineering drawings using Siemens NX (UG NX) . Design aircraft structural components, mounting brackets, equipment supports, mechanical assemblies, and installation hardware. Support aircraft structural modifications, equipment installations, and mechanical systems integration. Develop engineering drawing packages, bills of materials (BOMs), and technical documentation. Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and perform dimensional and tolerance stack-up analysis. Evaluate structural interfaces, material selection, loading conditions, and mechanical design requirements. Support structural analysis, engineering evaluations, and design verification activities. Collaborate with structural analysis engineers to evaluate strength, stiffness, and structural performance. Incorporate thermal design considerations into mechanical components and assemblies. Support thermal modeling and simulation activities using STAR-CCM+, Siemens Simcenter, or comparable software . Apply design-for-manufacturability (DFM) principles to ensure designs are practical for fabrication and assembly. Work closely with manufacturing, production, and integration teams to support prototype development and testing. Troubleshoot mechanical design and structural integration issues, identifying root causes and implementing design improvements. Participate in engineering design reviews, engineering changes, and configuration management activities. Ensure designs meet applicable aerospace engineering standards, technical specifications, and quality requirements. Experience 7+ years of professional mechanical or structural engineering experience , preferably within aerospace, aviation, or defense. Advanced hands-on Siemens NX (Unigraphics) experience in 3D modeling, complex assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings. Experience designing aerospace structural components, mechanical assemblies, or aircraft modifications. Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, structural interfaces, and aerospace engineering requirements. Experience creating detailed manufacturing drawings, installation documentation, and engineering design packages. Proficiency in GD&T, tolerance analysis, and mechanical fit requirements . Knowledge of aerospace materials, structural components, and manufacturing processes. Experience supporting engineering designs from concept through fabrication, integration, and testing. Understanding of structural loads, strength, stiffness, and mechanical performance. Familiarity with thermal design considerations and heat transfer principles. Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering and manufacturing teams. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and technical communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. Aircraft structural design or modification experience. Experience designing brackets, structural reinforcements, equipment mounting assemblies, and installation hardware. Familiarity with STAR-CCM+, Siemens Simcenter, or comparable thermal analysis tools . Experience performing structural analysis, stress calculations, or finite element analysis (FEA). Experience with Siemens Teamcenter or similar product lifecycle management (PLM) software. Background supporting military aircraft, commercial aviation, unmanned aerial systems (UAS), or aerospace development programs. Experience with prototype development, manufacturing support, and engineering change management. Familiarity with aerospace structural design standards and aircraft integration requirements. Experience supporting complex mechanical assemblies and aerospace structural installations.
