Southern Nuclear Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer with 10+ years of related engineering experience and an accredited bachelor's degree to support the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of power-related systems. This role is responsible for applying engineering processes, design standards, software applications, and technical expertise to develop design solutions, construction specifications, cost estimates, and construction packages. The Senior Engineer will also provide technical guidance, oversight, and quality assurance reviews for contractors and internal project teams. Key Responsibilities Apply engineering processes, design criteria, and software tools to support power-related system design and construction. Develop design options, construction specifications, and engineering deliverables. Support preparation of project estimates, including material estimates and scope development. Provide guidance, oversight, and quality assurance reviews for approved contractors. Review contractor-developed design solutions, cost estimates, and construction packages. Transmit construction packages and supporting specifications for project execution. Support construction and maintenance teams during day-to-day operations. Ensure all work supports a safe work environment by putting safety first. Understand and support processes related to planning, design, operation, construction, and maintenance. Collaborate with internal departments involved in design, construction, operations, and maintenance. Apply company design practices, work processes, and industry standards. Support development and improvement of design standards and engineering criteria. Build effective working relationships with plant staff, design engineering teams, contractors, and vendors. Required Qualifications Accredited bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline. 10+ years of related engineering experience. Advanced knowledge of engineering principles, design practices, and construction processes. Experience supporting power, utility, industrial, or energy-related systems. Strong understanding of engineering standards, design criteria, and construction specifications. Experience reviewing engineering designs, estimates, and construction packages. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to make independent decisions using established procedures and engineering judgment. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Commitment to safety, quality, and compliance. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with Southern Company or utility/power generation standards. Advanced knowledge of discipline-specific engineering software. Experience supporting plant operations, maintenance, or construction teams. Prior experience providing quality assurance reviews for contractor engineering work. Strong project coordination and technical leadership experience.
