West Des Moines, IA Job Details 23 hours ago Qualifications Customer communication Bachelor's degree in engineering Full Job Description WHKS is seeking a design engineer to use their knowledge and expertise in the design and project management of structural and related civil engineering projects in Iowa and surrounding states. Responsibilities Include:
Analyze, design, and manage various types of transportation-related structures including bridges, box culverts, and retaining walls. Perform preliminary design. Design steel, concrete, and pre-stressed concrete structures. Prepare construction plans and contract documents as well as perform observation services for existing structures and those under construction. Prepare scope, budget, and contracts for projects. Perform QC/QA reviews on plans and specifications. Coordinate and collaborate with clients and WHKS staff to solve challenging engineering tasks. Perform bridge inspections which may include: Conducting field inspections of bridges, culverts, and related structures. Documenting structural conditions, deficiencies, and maintenance needs. Preparing and reviewing inspection reports, sketches, and photographic documentation.
Qualifications:
Bachelors of Science degree in Civil Engineering Iowa P.E. license or ability to obtain within 6 months 5+ years of experience in structural design A valid driver's license Excellent computer and communication skills (both verbal and written) are required Experience with Microsoft Office products, Microstation, OpenRoads Designer, OpenBridge Designer, MathCad, RCPier, STAAD or MDX would be an advantage. Knowledge of Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT) specifications and procedures is a plus. Ability to work as part of a team Must be able to manage workload independently Apply Here
