A Building Engineer utilizes a mixture of construction knowledge and engineering principles to aid with building projects. Analyzes reports, helps design structures, and manages contracts and budgets. Also creates construction schedules and keeps construction sites in compliance with applicable laws.
15+ years of civil and structural construction experience supporting utility-scale power generation or large industrial projects. 10+ years of site-based experience on major or mega energy projects, including oversight of EPC contractors. Experience with foundations, structural concrete, structural steel, underground utilities, grading, drainage, and heavy equipment foundations. Strong understanding of the EPC project lifecycle from engineering through mechanical completion and startup.
Job Summary :
We are seeking an experienced Civil / Structural Lead to support the construction of a utility-scale combined-cycle power generation facility. As a member of the Owner's Engineer team, this position will oversee all civil and structural construction activities performed by the EPC contractor while ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with project specifications and quality requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Provide visible safety leadership while promoting safe work practices and monitoring EPC contractor performance. Oversee civil and structural construction activities including earthwork, foundations, piling, structural concrete, structural steel, underground utilities, drainage, and site development. Verify construction activities comply with Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings, specifications, quality standards, and project requirements. Monitor construction progress and identify schedule risks while assisting in development of mitigation plans. Review civil and structural engineering deliverables, inspection reports, testing documentation, and field changes. Evaluate contractor lifting plans, temporary works, and construction methodologies related to civil and structural activities. Coordinate responses to technical queries and monitor implementation of approved field changes. Witness inspection and testing activities identified within the EPC contractor's Inspection and Test Plan (ITP). Participate in mechanical completion walkdowns and turnover activities related to civil and structural systems. Prepare regular progress reports summarizing construction status, quality, schedule, safety, and project risks.
Job Requirements :
Demonstrated experience overseeing civil and structural construction on major EPC or Owner's Engineer projects. Strong understanding of civil construction methods, structural steel erection, concrete construction, deep foundations, and quality control. Experience reviewing contractor submittals, testing reports, inspection documentation, and field engineering deliverables. Excellent communication and coordination skills with owners, EPC contractors, engineering firms, and construction teams. Education /

Bachelor's Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical discipline preferred. 15+ years of civil and structural construction experience supporting utility-scale power generation or major industrial projects. Combined-cycle power plant experience strongly preferred.
