A Geotechnical Engineer specializes in understanding and assessing the physical, mechanical and chemical properties of earth materials. They study the properties of these materials to assess their suitability for construction projects and to design foundations, slopes, retaining walls, and other structures to ensure stability and safety. Investigates geological conditions, conducts tests on rock and soil, and provides recommendations to mitigate risks, ensuring the integrity and longevity of infrastructure projects.
GE2601 Geotechnical/Environmental Engineer Hillsboro/East St. Louis, IL Hurst-Rosche has an opportunity for a Geotechnical Engineer based in one of our Illinois office locations (preferably Hillsboro or East St. Louis, Illinois). We are an integrated, multidiscipline design firm that unites a dynamic team of architects, engineers, surveyors, and industry specialists driven to help solve our clients' greatest challenges. Our market sector includes private, local, state, and federal clients.
Position duties will include:
Supervise and perform geotechnical engineering design calculations, visual classification of soils, and creation of geotechnical engineering reports. Understand ASTM procedures as they relate to geotechnical engineering. Supervise and administer laboratory tests - unconfined compression strength, Atterberg limits, Proctors, and other tests, as needed. Ability to organize and handle multiple projects and meet deadlines. Provide oversight of and/or assist in completion of site investigations to assess sites for geotechnical or environmental conditions. Environmental engineering background or coursework is a benefit as certain projects will include environmental based tasks. Field experience in completing soil borings and soil logging is advantageous. May require occasional field work with drill rig and/or materials testing activities. Qualified candidates must have a B.S. Degree in the field of study or related. Professional Engineer license is considered a significant benefit. If not already a licensed Professional Engineer, the ability and willingness to obtain such license is required.
Salary Range:
