Job Description

About the OpportunityWe are a well-established, family-owned manufacturing company with over 50 years of experience producing precision structural concrete components for large-scale transportation and infrastructure projects across the Midwest. Certified by two of the most respected industry bodies in the precast concrete space, we are known for technical excellence, on-time delivery, and a hands-on, collaborative team culture. We are currently gearing up for a significant multi-year infrastructure project and are looking to add a motivated, detail-oriented Project Engineer to support production operations and project coordination from day one.

The RoleThis is a hybrid office and field role
  • you will spend time both at your desk managing documentation and out on the production floor and storage yard supporting our Superintendent and Quality Manager.
Think of it as an assistant project manager position that keeps things moving: tracking inventory, coordinating paperwork, verifying drawings, and making sure everything is organized and ready when it needs to be. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their career who wants real exposure to complex construction and manufacturing processes in a hands-on environment.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Work alongside the Superintendent and Quality Manager to review production drawings, coordinate repairs, and manage project documentation from production through delivery
  • Track and manage inventory for all project-related materials as incoming deliveries are received
  • Coordinate outbound deliveries with the internal freight and dispatch team, ensuring pieces are ready and scheduled for shipment
  • Maintain and organize quality documentation packets for each manufactured component, which include production drawings, concrete documentation, and inspection records
  • Verify that vendor fabrication drawings align with approved shop drawing details and material specifications
  • Monitor upcoming shipment schedules and confirm that components slated for delivery meet all readiness and quality requirements
  • Serve as a communication bridge between the field team and management, relaying questions or issues to the appropriate internal expert
  • Use internal production tracking software to create item codes and purchase orders as needed (full training provided
  • Support the broader project team across various tasks depending on daily priorities and where attention is most neededRequired Skills and Qualifications
  • 0 to 3 years of experience in construction management, project coordination, or a related field
  • recent graduates with internship experience are encouraged to apply
  • A background or coursework in construction management, civil engineering, or a closely related discipline is preferred
  • Some exposure to the construction industry is a plus
  • prior experience with a general contractor, subcontractor, or construction-adjacent environment will help you ramp up faster
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and keep documentation accurate and up to date
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools
  • Word, Excel, and general computer use
