Job Description

at Department of Transportation in Springfield, Illinois, United States Job Description Essential Functions Prepares hydraulic reports and analyses to ensure that they are accurate, neat, complete and in compliance with the Bureau of Design and Environment’s ( BDE ) Manual and Drainage Manuals and Policies. Reviews the hydraulic calculations for highway access permits. Handles documentation of the hydraulic procedures and key decisions made in report preparation needed to help keep bridge and related files up to date. Performs field inspections to ensure that the information for report and plan preparation is accurate and completed on a timely basis. Keeps informed of current departmental and district policies and procedures to ensure projects and reports comply with current policies and procedures. Identifies scheduling requirements to complete work in a timely fashion. Coordinates work with others, both inside and outside of the Bureau of Program Development, while keeping the Hydraulics Engineer aware of work issues. Assists with the review of work completed by other hydraulics staff members. Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Completion of a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from an ABET accredited college OR a current Illinois Engineer Intern Certificate OR a current Professional Engineer license in the state of Illinois OR a current Structural Engineer License in the state of Illinois. Those applying with only a degree must have a minimum of 2.0 (out of 4.0) cumulative Grade Point Average ( GPA ). If cumulative GPA is between 2.0 and 2.5 (out of 4.0), applicants must also possess a current Illinois Engineer Intern Certificate OR a current Professional Engineer license in the state of Illinois OR a current Structural Engineer License in the state of Illinois. To view full details and how to apply, please login or create a Job Seeker account
