Job Summary:
The Sr. Structural Engineer is responsible for the design of steel and concrete structures and pipelines related to new and existing onshore and offshore oil and gas facilities. Included functions encompass assessment, analysis, and detailed design of platforms, foundations, skids, pipelines, risers and related appurtenances. This involves project phases from conceptual engineering through construction, installation, and start-up. Design specifications, regulatory compliance, and project documentation are additional functions of this position. Coordinating with and directing Designers and Drafters of structural and other disciplines is required to accomplish project tasks. A Senior Engineer may also be required to be the Lead Structural Engineer on a multi-discipline project.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Conceptual, preliminary and detailed structural analysis and design, related to a variety of onshore and offshore, oil & gas facility projects; Perform structural analysis utilizing the SACS™ suite of computer programs (analysis types include In-place, loadout, transportation, installation, fatigue, and non-linear (pushover)); Effectively reference current AISC, ASCE, API, AWS, ISO, and other industry regulatory, and project specific standards and codes; Work on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects; Develop project calculations and documentation using tools such as Mathcad, MS Word and MS Excel; Develop regulatory submittals (e.g.: BSEE, USCG, ABS, etc.); Utilize existing project guidelines and design tools; Interface with design team which may comprise: project managers, engineers, drafters and support staff; Research, learn, develop and implement various design techniques which may be industry specific; Perform the necessary field work to obtain accurate information required to complete the assigned task; Manage Structural Engineering portion of multi-discipline project: § Assign work to junior engineers, mentor, and check quality of their work; § Estimate resources require for project execution; § Manage Structural Engineering budget and schedule; § Interface with client representatives; Additional duties as assigned. Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities): § BS in Structural or Civil Engineering required; § For candidates with engineering degrees attained outside the U.S., the candidate must have attained an E.I.T. designation from a U.S. based state licensing board; § Requires ten (10) years' experience in design of offshore oil and gas facilities; § Knowledge and experience utilizing structural design codes including AISC, ACI and ASCE design guidelines; § Ability to utilize applicable engineering software such as SACS and STAAD; § Strong knowledge and skill with MathCAD, MS Excel and MS Word; § Ability to complete discipline related duties independently; § Ability to complete tasks that are client/project specific with high level direction; § Familiarity with total project systems which would include mechanical, structural, civil and electrical components to allow consideration of those aspects in design; § Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously; § Ability to interact with all levels of staff (support, interdisciplinary project teams, management, etc.); § Strong written and verbal communications skills; § May require the ability to work overtime or travel to offsite work locations.

Working Conditions:
Work is primarily conducted in an office environment (Private or Semi-Private office) but may require occasional travel to off-site work locations; Field duties may require outdoor work in a plant or offshore platform atmosphere; Interaction with other team members, as well as supervisors and client personnel; Working offshore or in plant and/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels; Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection; May be at more than one job site in a day and must be able to tolerate climate changes; May be required to travel out of town on a periodic basis. Physical Requirements (With or without Reasonable Accommodation): Must be able to lift and carry twenty (20) pounds; Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities which permits employee to communicate effectively; Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time; Sufficient vision or other powers of observation which permits employee to conduct analysis and investigations; Sufficient manual dexterity which permit the employee to perform routine office duties; Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes to perform office duties and travel when necessary to off-site locations.
